I had a club tournament on the Potomac River this past weekend. One of the members of our club found this floating near Piscataway Creek.

Used the new American Tackle Aero Reel Seat 16mm Comfort Feel with split grip handle. I also used Recoil guides on this rod. It is extremely light weight.

Fixed the reel...no more Micky. Also made the guides a little smaller. Billy, the line now goes through the tip guide...just for you. Actually me too.

My Sister-In-Law is working on a logo for me. She is close to completion, just a few tweaks she wants to do. I wanted to get a few opinions from the photo forum. I like split grips and spiral wrapped guides so I want that showing in the logo.

I had a decent day on the Upper Chesapeake Bay. Not many caught but the few that were caught were nice. This one went 27 pounds on the Boga Grip.

I built these on GLoomis CB843 blanks. A friend of mine likes to throw crankbaits so he wanted 3 built.

The first guide should be just above the butt section when it is telescoped together, size 12.

My opinion, the Shikari SHII FS764, 7' 6" length or FS804 8' length would be a good choice. They are available as telescoping also. The SHII material is lower modulus but it is very durable. I have a telescoping FS764 that I built for myself and I built the 764 non-telescoping for another bass guy.

I would agree with the Seeker BS706 S Glass post. I have 4 and have built 4 or 5 for other bass guys. All have been very pleased. If you know Rich Forhan, he strongly believes it is the best blank made for moving lures.

I was thinking about the GLoomis CB847 as a good blank choice for throwing Horny Toads and Sizmic Toads. Anyone else using these baits for bass? If so, what blank?

Think of it as balance, not weight but visual. It is purely decorative, but if you don't put it on, it looks like you broke your tip and just stuck on a replacement.

I know it's loaded. I am a bass guy and I am very specific when it comes to a specific rod for each application. This guy is not real serious, he just wants a rod that he can use for a few different things. Price is not really an issue. I will build it with a split grip, no foregrip and probably spiral wrap guides. Guides will probably be Alconites.

I have someone that is interested in a rod that he can use as an all around bass rod. I was thinking of suggesting the St. Croix 3C66MF. He wants 6' 6". Has anyone built on this blank or does anyone have a better choice to consider?

I get what you're saying and I probably didn't word it correctly. George Roth has a great article on his web site . One part of his article says "An ideal drop shot blank has a tip that flexes with the slightest amount of pressure. This is because the angler is fishing the rig on a slack line and almost always, the bite is never felt. Only a slight tightening of the line is detected. With

I've not tried one myself but a lot of bass guys really like the Shikari SHII P 7000. It is a 7' blank and it's not expensive at all. When dropshotting you really don't want a sensitive blank that allows you to feel the fish tap your lure. You want a blank that loads the tip when the fish eats the lure and you don't want the fish to know your holding the rod. Just my opinion.

I would suggest Shikari SHII FS764. You can get it in a telescoping version as well. I would build it with a split grip, no foregrip and spiral the guides. I usually use the Fuji Alconite guides.

Rich Forhan stated at the show that when he builds a 7' rod he makes the handle 9" long. As stated in all other replies do what feels right to you.
