Thanks for all the info. According to Batson, this is a 10' 6" rod. The customer told me that he cut one foot off of each piece. I did static test it and it turned out really well. This forum has been a great help. I will let you guys know if I have any more questions.

I have a Batson IST1264f a customer wants me to build on for him. It is a 12" 6' rod that the customer cut down to 10" 6'. The split handle was built to his specifications and is 26" from the butt to the top of the foregrip. I need to find a guide spacing calculator that can help me to correctly place the guides for this rod. Any help would be appreciated. All the calcs that I have

Sounds like Steve is the guy I need to talk with. Anybody know where he is at? I attempted my first diamond wrap and it turned out just ok. Not able to keep the design "straight".

I was wondering if there is anybody in the Eugene, Oregon area that can teach me how to do some basic designs on a rod? I have seen plenty of videos online, but very few how-to types, mostly what they look like after. I do much better by seeing and doing rather than having it in a book. Would love to do some basic diamond or chevron wraps. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Batson Rainshadow RX7 Graphite IST1084F rod blank. I need to find a guide spacing chart to make a spinning rod out of it. Does anybody know where I can find one. It is not on the Batson website. Any help would be appreciated.

This will be my first attempt at marbling. My question is, when using Testors model paint, do I need to let the pigment settle to the bottom and pour off the clear, or just leave it as it is? any help would be appreciated.

Does anybody know of a good tiger wrap tutorial. I would really like to learn to do them, but have not been able to find a good tutorial. I have a friend who wants me to build a rod for him using a tiger wrap. Thanks in advance.

10. weaving loom
seems to me that a loom is a device to organize thread, right? I do not own one, but looking at the price of some of them, I am not sure that I will! I have seen pics in catalogs, and it looks like one could be built very easily. I am thinking about using a piece of plexiglas for the base and gluing some foam w/ equally spaced slits cut into it to hold the treads. Does anybody have any other

11. Weaving patterns
I just finished my first hand made weaving patterns and posted them in the picture gallery. Wondering if anybody would be kind enough to take a look at them and tell me if I am even on the right track. One has left list, the other doesn't. Now, I have to learn how to weave. Anybody have a copy of custom rod weaving for dummies?

WOW!! I really had no idea! I guess for what I am capable of doing, I am on the right track. I do not consider myself a beginner, nor am I a professional (I have built nearly 25 rods and sold 10ish), but I have been complimented many times on the rods I have built. I would really like to learn how to do decorative wraps and weaves. I am only capable of doing the simple 7 thread letters now.

I am curious to know what you guys charge to build a custom rod for a customer. I currently charge cost of materials plus $12.50 per foot. Is that too much? Too little? I would really like to know what you guys think.
Thanks in advance.

thanks for the info. I did not call him, but I did go to the website and I think I found a blank for him. I found a Forecast Saltwater "stubbie" one-piece that is only 42" long. I also like the idea of cutting the rod and adding a ferrule. Where can I get one, and how easy are they to install. Do I have to cut the blank in a certain place, or just cut it in the middle? I don'

I have a customer that wants me to build him a 4 foot, 2 piece, rod and I can't find a blank!! Does anybody have any suggestions? He wants to use it out of a kayak this summer. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Okay, new information. He wants "a spinning type handle with a significant amount of cork below the reel seat so I can tuck it under a leg or seat to troll while paddling.

17. Rod Blanks
Is there any way to tell what kind of rod blanks I have? I purchased what I was told were two 8'6", 2-piece, Lamiglas IM6 blanks. One is brown, the other is grey. Both have glossy finishes. I bought them from a local dealer that used to get blanks from Lamiglas, but apparently got in trouble for selling them too cheap. He told me that he found these in a storage shed that has not been g

I have heard about, and even seen, a little about these electric decals. Can somebody explain exactly what these are and how they work? I know they are a type of vinyl(???) or something I can print on, but that is the extent of my knowledge. They sound like something I would be really interested in. I have been getting quite a few requests to build custom rods, but have no nice logo to put on

Help!! I was given a G. Loomis fly rod blank to build for a friend of mine. I don't know what kind of blank it is, but I do know that she has had it for 9-10 years!! It was given to her as a gift. She put it up and forgot about it. She was cleaning out her garage this week and found it. It is a burgandy, 8 1/2 foot, two-piece rod. She is pretty sure it is a 5 weight rod. Can anybody help

23. Straight guides
I was wondering what you guys do to keep your guides straight? I have built about a dozon rods, and sold a few of them. I find that my guides are straight, but they are not perfect. I really want to sell my stuff, but I want to perfect it first! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
