I have been using the pumps for a long time (about 15 years) with no problems I get them from Karen @ Bingham Ent.. I replace them every couple of years. To answer the problem with the next day wasted pump, if you notice when you first open the pump up, you have a half turn you make to get it to release. Scott, I have been using Denatured Alcohol for 10+ years of building. I get it at Walmart, Lowes, and Home Depot. It has worked quite well for me in my alcohol burner also, I keep the wick very short for a cooler flame.
