Has anyone bought bright yellow metallic thread. I've been looking for a while, and nothing. Now I've seen plenty of shades of gold, but I'd really like a nice bright, lemony yellow. Any suggestions where I can buy?

What kind of clamps do you guys use to keep the seat and the grips on each side of it in place? My regular clamp wont work.

I've put metallic on the bottom. The effect is neat. Do a few practice runs each way and see what happens. Just make sure you burnish really well.

Ok......I haven't totally lost my mind, yet. And this isn't my first build either. But I swear, when I roll this blank between my palms, it 'pops' TWICE! I know it's 'popping' twice because I can see the strip of tape at the butt. How is that possible. Does it have more than one spine? The blank is American Tackle AMMBC843 Green Matrix. It's 84 inches. I'm going to make it into a casting rod.

I work in eyecare as well as make rods from time to time. Since you mentioned your eyes, a dr. may be able to prescribe lenses to sharpen things up.

Howdy,
I read a previous post where a guy sliced eva rings by spinning them on a mandrel and then pressing down with a piece of thread. Has anyone tried doing this with cork? Did it work? Will it work?
I'm about to order cork and eva. $'s tight. Want to avoid laying out for cutting jigs if I can

I'd like to make some cork grips with eva inlay. The design i'm thinking of would have 3 eva strips bonded to each other, and cork rings on either side. What would be the best products to bond eva to eva, and eva to the cork. I'm trying to post a link to a pic of what I'd like to try.

Howdy,
Guess my question is kind of similar to the previous post.
I've also put in an order for a lathe. The RL100 by Flex Coat to be exact. Got to get a drill to go with it and was looking for suggestions. From various posts it seems that minimum requirements are, 4amps, up to 2500rpm, and VSR.
I've concluded that I won't buy one with a keyless chuck or one that's battery powered.

This has all been very helpful. Thanks. BTW........I hit Duplicolor's website and saw that there's also a product called Metalcast that has an anodized look. Anyone ever tried it?

Howdy,
I've come across several posts about painting blanks and have been drawn to Duplicolor Mirage. Manufacturer's photos look wild. Also saw several posts about Mirage that are from some years back. So I'm wondering..........
Have these paint jobs held up over the years? If not, why? If so, what helped?
Has the Mirage 3 step system been adequate for a rod blank? If not, why?
Is there a

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to this group and just getting into rod building. I used to watch my old man build his own when I was a kid. And now, I'm about to put finish on a rod I made for my own boy.
I came across this photo on @#$%&. My jaw just totally hit the floor. WOW! Needless to say, I won't be able to live a normally insane life, till I learn to do something like it. Here's the link
