When you guys drill the holes in the sides of a reel seat, How do you manage to not get rod Bond on the area where the holes are. I am having a issue when I slide the seat over the arbors the rod bond gets on the blank and in the drilled holes so it looks bad. You can see the rod bond from the holes... Hope this makes sense Thankx John

I glue the rings on a cork clamp jig. Then I slip the glued up cork on the threaded mandrel with the rubber bushing and wing nuts get it tight and turn.

Just another way I do it. I use threaded rod with wing nuts on both ends with washers. Grab a few soft rubber bushings and brass ones in different size dia. from any hardware store. Put the bushing on the rod with some brass spacers and turn the wing nuts to compress the bushing till the cork is tight enough. Sounds like it is difficult but it is soooooo simple. John

I am trying to make a split grip spinning rod using a premade cork fighting butt. My Problem is that all the butts I have used or ones that I have looked at from sponsors all have a .3 or .2 I.D. I am trying to bore them out to .5 I.D and break them everytime. Its driving me nutz..... Does anyone have a secret or know of a .5 I.D fighting butt. I am on #6 and really don't want to reach #10 :) Tha

I know this is a Rod Building Forum..... But I recently had to sell my offshore boat and got myself a Kayak :) Big change but I will make it work. I am totaly new to saltwater fly fishing and was wondering if any of you knew of A DVD or a place I can read up on it. Built myself a nice rod and purchased a reel, but have no clue what to do. I know it sounds crazy but the only way I was gonna learn

I read Toms Artical and I think I am missing something. Do I charge the tax on the Full Cost of the Rod or the Profit on the Rod. Example... If I am Selling A Rod to Mr. A For $200, Do I charge him on the $200. or Do I subtract my Cost from the $200 let's say $65 for all components and Just charge the Tax on $135? Thanks for the Help John

I did notice that I did not put enough rod bond towards the front of the grip and that is where the grip split. So I am thinking that as he was fighting the fish he twisted the foregrip where it was not glued and SNAP! So I think I will try and sell him on the no foregrip idea and if that's a no go then it's Bill's Idea. Thank you all John
