you are right jim thanks, my question is does the letter F in the TSF series stand for fast action? and if so does that mean the TS series are moderate action.

Hi guys, what is a tuna action, the reason I ask is because on seeker and calstar webs some rods are callled tune action. I am trying to figure out if this action is what iam looking for, thanks for any help. scotty.

Dont ask how. But I managed to get rubbing alcohol on a wrap, wiped it off and let it dry, and tried to put the finish coat on, well that didnt work epoxy ran from the alcohol, my question is can I take scotch brite and ruff up the finish and get the epoxy to stick or do I have to remove the wrap and start over, Thanks for any help

Mostly in power, a 16oz jig doesnt even move the tip, there real stiff, maybe iam just not used to the extra fast action.

Lokking for advice for ling cod blank - sea bass blank, used the rainshadow rclmb70ml, to heavy for me thinking of trying same blank in the light version? any thoughts would be helpful, thanks scotty.

Hello, I quit useing the texalium handles for that same reason, I even talked to todd at mudhole about this problem, and the ones pre cut from lamiglas also were chiped on the edges. I went back to the carbon fiber handles.

Hello steve, just about all the rods I have built have been downrigger rods, approx 30, and have bought probably that many or more factory downrigger rods, Batson makes a RDR 86M which is a good downrigger rod for salmon or lake trout, I have also biult on the ICG 8-9 rod todd vivan recomended, its a club, but lamiglas certified pro fiberglass rods are buy far the best downrigger rods I have us

Thats the info I needed mark, thanks, going to use that new cord you sell, the reason I guessed for the cork under the cord would be to help make up the difference in Dia between the blank and reel seat if I have a large gap?. Scotty.

Hello everyone, looking for some info on how to tie a tuna cord wrap for a fore grip, basically on the starts and stops, also do you need cork tape under the wrap and do you put any kind of sealer or something on the wrap or just leave it alone. Thanks scotty.

I know this has been beat to death, but still not sure, I am going to build my first standup rod and going to put a underwrap under the guides with size A thread. The factory rods I have look like the underwrap is finished and then the guides are added and then the guides are finished, If you dont do it this way and finish underwrap and guides at the same time how do you get the finish right in b

tony I also have a question about a blank for wire line trolling, the guys around here use a 6oz wieght with a flatfish behind them, they are fishing in 200ft water with about 500ft of wire out. running out the back not around the riggers any thoughts scotty. sorry eric for high jacking but been trying to get a hold of tony for a few days

Hello tony, its scotty in montana, would like some more adivce please, I built a pair of RDR10Hs spiral wraped for dipsys they are working great thanks, but now I need to build some wire line rods going to use SN guides with @#$%& spiral top, out here the guys put on a 6oz banana wieght and run them straight out the back behind the riggers, they are fishing for lakers anywhere from 160 to 200ft d

Hello everyone, I have been doing this for 5 months now and built 19 rods, getting better but still have some problems, I am trying to use guderod regular nylon thread with bright colors on black blanks with CP, on the larger size guides like 12 and up I cant seem to get the thread tight enough to stop that shadow from showing thru between the blank and guide legs, I am packing the thread all the

Thanks guys I will try the citicas, Havent had good luck with abus and I have one cardiff, the drag sticks on mine, I normally run shimano tekotas and I love them just a bit larger than I need for this purpose.

I am building a 10ft dipsy rod, the tip top tube size is a 10 and the smallest ring size I can find with a ten tube is a size 10, I dont need size 10 running guides at all size 8s would be fine, I know enough that I can do whatever I want but will size 8 guides with a 10 top look stupid? thanks

Hi guys, would like some advice on a good bait casting reel, used for jigging for whitefish, 1/4 oz to 1/2oz jigs, I dont know much about these stlye of reels anymore, but would like to get a good one at a decent price if you can, I see alot of them are more expensive than I would like to spend, but want one that will hold up, thanks for any advice scotty

Cliff that 9 and 1/2 footer is a excellent downrigger rod, I would agree spiral wrap it, It really shines when fishing deep say over 100ft for picking up slack, as to its foot print it wont be anymore than the lenght of your boom mine are scottys at 5ft, 10ft dipsy rods get arond the down and outs with out any problems.

I took a sewing machine apart to build a rod wrapper, the pulley on the motor is a belt drive and the shaft is 3/16 or 187.5 ID , I see mud hole sells the small pulleys for O ring belts, but doesnt list pulley ID, will contact them but was wondering if anybody here new the ID of most of these pulleys. thanks scotty.

mike I hope you come back, how important is it to have variable speed on the lathe, what I really want to do is shape my own eva and hypalon grips, not fond of cork but probably will do a little of it, I dont know anything about fly rods and honestly dont have any desire to mess with them, so I dont forsee me doing any fly reel seats or wood trim rings at least not yet. so will variable speed do

the one I am looking at is a 10in by 18in should do all the grips I want to do I think, I am not into fly rods mostly boat rods, dont see where a bed extension will be needed as I dont see me doing any grips on blanks. Thanks for the advice guys. scotty.
