Sometimes it is not the rod blank but the tip top tube opening. when the tube is cut the cutter will roll the edge over causing a small burr. I use a small burnishing tool with a triangle edge and work it around the inside edge and this will open the tub to its true size. I find this a lot on tube sizes from #5 on down. Joe

When I apply a St Croix decal to the blank I rub the decal with a burnishing tool to get all the air bubbles out. I then put a lite coat of CP around the edges of the decal to cover any escaped addheasive, This has worked for me on hundreds of St Croix rods. Joe

Gary, I built a C T S Affinty DH 13' 4pc 7/8 wt using H & H single foot snake guides with a xl tip. The spacing I used from tip to butt is.51/4 61/2 73/4 9 101/4 111/2 123/4 14 15 3/4 17 1/2 Guide size 4-4-4-4-4-5-5-6-16 20 fore grip14" #8 channel lock reel seat 5" butt. I hope this will help you. I wrap All my tips with a trim band. But all tip tops smaller than 5/64 I put on with 5 min. appoxy to hold them better.
