Take a paper clip and straighten it out. Grasp the end with a pair of needle nose pliers and wrap the PC around the pliers forming a small loop in the end. You end up with about 3-4 inches of wire with a loop in the end. Place the looped end on the threaded rod between the last washer and the wing nut. Then when you spool off the thread the PC leg will spin till it contacts your table or the n

If you do much wood working you will find that some woods will soak up the adhesive leaving you a somewhat "dry" surface, resulting a less then adequate bond between the two surfaces. A good practice is to apply your adhesive to the porous surface and allow it to be absorbed (prime) (end grain and burls are the worst). I typically apply the adhesive, watch the surface, it is usually e

I did a couple of searches couldn't find a topic related to suggested uses for leftover epoxy. As has been suggested in several posts that mixing epoxy in larger amounts for rod finishing will limit chances of getting the ration messed up and ending up with an epoxy mixture that does not set up completely. I have been using the 3ml + 3ml ratio and have really good luck with having the epoxy set

Thanks Tom, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Net profit is the term I am familiar with and your answer is a good explanation of what anyone in business needs to remember. Namely, what is the (net) PROFIT after ALL the expenses (labor is an expense) are paid.

In a previous topic, it was asked "How much do you charge?" Several of the responders talked about how much profit they expected to make. The answers sounded like the profit was what paid the labor! What I consider profit is that portion the money received that I can use to fund the next fishing trip and take the wife out to dinner and money that can be used to expand the business. I

Gary,
Contact Brandon Powers (see below) with TFO about your blank request. I asked earlier this year about the Axiom Fly Rod and got the following response,
"The Axiom blanks have not been made available yet. We make new additions to the selection each fall as we put together our catalog for the following year. New additions to the list of blanks are almost entirely request driven.

I built a fly rod recently on one of the TFO blanks and was a little unsure as to how to handle the "gray" sections. When I built the rod I left the section on the male side unwrapped. The rod looked somewhat unfinished with the sections of gray showing. Later I saw two factory rods (Bass Pro Shop) on the same blank and the upper sections were wrapped down to within about 1/8" of

We are driving all the way from LA (Lower Alabama) spending Thursday night with my daughter in Athens Ga. then on to High Point for the reception Friday. Friday and Saturday in the hotel then back to Athens, then back to LA. About 1200 miles RT and looking forward to it!

If anyone is still looking for a room at the HOTEL HIGH POINT, I just canceled one of the rooms I had reserved. One of the folks coming in the group could not come, so we did not need all of the rooms.
See y'all there!

I got one of the IMC847T Lamiglas blanks from the Mudhole sale and am a little confused. Th blank is in two sections but is not the normal (at least what my limited knowledge has seen) tip over butt. The top of the butt section and the bottom of the tip section are the same size. You can slide the tip section into the Butt section from below and there is a nice fit when tip is slid all the way

11. Re: Rodmaker CD?
I posed the question about additional volumes added to the CD collection to Tom a couple of weeks ago. Tom indicted that the effort to produce the magazine on disc was not at all cost effective and that most buyers wanted something to hold in their hand.
I got all of the CDs available and would buy all of the back issues if available. I carry a loptop just about everywhere and I put all of

Could I also get the information on the $1.95 Madiera thread? I am fairly new to Rod-Building and am trying to build a little stock for future rods.

I am having the same issue and it has not been that way in the past! I thought it may be a cache issue so I logged out, shut down and logged back in same thing.

In the interest of saving a few trees, can someone tell me what is the future of putting additional volumes of the magazine on CD? I checked the FAQ and did a couple of searches but did use the correct keywords to find an answer.
I got the three that are currently available, but would be interested in getting others over a period of time. Is there the possibility of a group discount? ie.
