Myles is right, you want to level the center line of the blank. If you level the top of the blank then the epoxy will creep toward the butt of the rod. If you level the bottom of the rod then the epoxy will creep toward the tip.

I don't have visualwrap, but it sounds to me like you are clicking on the setup file. Since it's already installed, it's asking if you want to repair it or uninstall it. Try looking in your programs menu for the program icon.

I've been researching rods for the same purpose the last few days. I've decided to go with the Rainshadow/Forecast SPG723. It's an E-glass rod. It is relatively heavy at 2.5 oz., but it only costs $10.50. I have also considered the St. Croix 2C66MM. It is a graphite blank so it weighs less, at 1.5 oz. It can be had for under $50. Might just build both of them to see which I like better.

I've had some intermittent problems the last two days accessing a couple of different sites hosted by pairowoodies, including this one. It could be they are having hardware (server) problems, or it could be a problem with the communication lines running to their location. Either way, the problem hasn't lasted more than a couple of minutes at a time that I've noticed.

Are you refering to the rod-builders section on the decal connection website? Assuming so, that brings up a sub-menu to the right that you choose which area (within the rod-builders area) you would like to visit.

Do a search for CP or color preserver and you will find more opinions than you want. The only positive attribute I can think of for using CP (other than to preserve color or to prevent transparency) would be to prevent threads moving on a decorative crosswrap or weave.

I can't help you with your specific question, but I will say that if you want to 'fondle' some rods and get some good info. call Capt. Ray at Fishsticks4U. Their shop is right across the river from you in New Kent. They have bent over backwards to answer all of my stupid questions.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was actually hoping for something shorter with a more moderate action. Reasons being; 1) the tight confines under the bridge (Dad's already broke one rod by smacking a piling in his backcast, and 2) I'm thinking that a shorter rod will give Dad more leverage to subdue the fish quicker (although I can see the advantage of a longer rod in steering the fish away from pi

If you can't get a definitive answer you could always wrap a layer of thread over their decal and apply your label over that. Then, if a warranty situation did come up you could remove the thread to reveal their label.

My dad does a lot of fishing under a bridge for snook. IMO, the rods he's currently using are not suited for this type of fishing. He's throwing Rat-L-Traps mostly, and the occasional swimming jig. Probably 1/2 oz. to an oz. max. Casting distance is not much of an issue as the bridge pilings limit casting distance more than anything else. But, you need a rod with backbone to keep the fish from wr

Since you asked for the best equipment without regard to price, I'd have to say that the Wonder Weaver available from Renzetti is the best weaving tool out there. She ain't cheap, but if you are going to do a lot of weaving she'll pay for herself over the long haul.

You want to try to get the centerline of the rod level. If you level the top then the epoxy will want to flow toward the reel on the bottom. If you level the bottom then the epoxy will want to flow toward the tip on top. If you level the centerline the epoxy will flow slightly toward the tip on top and toward the reel on the bottom, but rotating the rod will even this out.

I don't know if you can call it a quirk or not. In essense, by hitting the back button you are viewing the previous screen as you previously viewed it (from your computers memory). You're not refreshing the information. You can also hit the refresh button (for IE, don't know about other browsers) and the 'new' tag will go away and any new topics that have been added will show up.

Art, I don't know if this is the cause of your problem or not, but after you registered an email should have been sent to the email address you registered with. Within that email was a link that you must click on in order to activate your account.
