Here's my .02
I don't know if anyone else has had this issue occur, but I built a fly rod using Recoil single foots and as the line passed in and out through the guides, the guides sang. Almost as if the guides resonated. Very annoying. Anyways: thumbs down on recoil single foots.
Fuji Alconites are excellent. Nice consistent fit and finish and from everything I have read, the alconi

I have a general question concerning rod flex characteristics. Do the flex characteristics of a graphite, fiberglass or even bamboo rod change over time? ie...does a rod that has been fished with for 5 years behave differently than when it was new? This is assuming that the rod underwent no unusual stress, damage, overheating, varnish damage (bamboo) etc..

I built an FT a while ago with black main wrap with metallic blue trim, black guides and black reel and it looks very nice IMHO.

Joe, I used a 12mm and a 10mm Fuji stripper, 2 #4 recoils and #2's the rest of the way to the tip top. The scuffing is present between all the recoil guides and not between the 2 strippers.

Bob, Yes, I did test cast and don't remember noticing

I recently built a Rainshadow RX7 5 wt. 3 piece rod using Fuji strippers plus Recoil single foot guides running up to the tip-top. After building and casting, I noticed a scraping sound that the rod made while the fly line moves back and forth through the guides. At first, I thought one of the guides was singing because of some vibration or resonance possibly but discovered that the sound was p

I cast a 5 wt Sage graphite III LL rod yesterday and enjoyed the feel of the rod quite a bit. I'm now looking to build a new 5 wt. rod with a similar feel and have a couple questions: 1. What is the current Sage rod that is equivalent to the LL rod and 2. Sage is a little pricey. Can anyone recommend a blank with a similar action/feel with a more reasonable price tag?

Hello,
I have a friend who insists on building a Fisher 15 wt fly rod. I understand this company is out of business, but if anyone has knowledge of where I may be able to acquire one, I would appreciate the info.
Thank-you
