I use U-40 on my burl cork handles and it really pulls the grain in the cork out.

I lost a Plano tackle box last summer. I left it on the front deck of the boat and didn't latch the lid and at 65 MPH the lid opened up and tossed the box and around 15 lbs of jigs over. I don't evene want to know the value of what I lost.

I'd buy a digital or dial caliper. It will make your life much easier when it comes to measuring these type of things. Many of the digital calipers can switch between mm and inch so you don't have to convert the units.

I have actually gone back and re-done some of my original rods. I sitll kept a few of them around as a reminder of how far I have come. The 1st rod that I built, I somehow managed to align the guides around 15 degrees off from the reel seat. Don't beat yourself up, practice, read, and then practice some more. Good Luck! Steve

Andrew, You don't have to tape all of the guides on at once, I do one at a time. I first mark the location of the guides with a white crayon. You can use guide spacing charts to start out with, but I'd reccomend learning how to static test the blank to determine the guide locations. Once you have your reel seat and your grip glued up I use the reel seat like a gun sight, just look down it ma

Alex, that is exactly what I do. I am right handed, I crank a bait caster with my right had, so I have to switch hands when I cast. I crank with my left had on spinning tackle. All of my fishing buds use left hand retrieve bait casting reels so they don't have to switch hands when they cast. I wish that was the case, but it feels very un-natural to me. It may have to do with the fact that my Dad

I love the look of the split grip, and I really like building them. The split grip area gives the builder a bigger slate to work with. I thnk they are very comfortable to fish with, but as a two handed caster, I don't like them. I built myself one and had to make the front grip long enough so I could use two hands when casting I like it for flipping and pitching, but as a casting rod I'm not a bi

I'd just wrap some masking tape around the blank to snug it up, glue it and you will never know the difference.

I've used this in the past and it has worked great. This was a reccomendation for Batson reel seats. When ordering the correct size, most casting reel seats are mounted at about 10” from the rod butt, and the blank tapers about .040” in the first 10”. Subtract .040” from the butt size inch listed in the catalog. For ordering purposes order one size up and one size down to make a s

Thanks for all of the input, I have had the logo for two years now and have slowly been messing with it. The Decal JPG is the actual decals that I had made and have on my truck. I also use a mini version of it on all of my rods cut in an oval.

The funny thing is Bill, you were right, I had been staring at that darn thing for a long time and didn't notice the tip of the rod didn't remain black. Sometimes when people are looking for opinions they don't like what they hear, I appreciate your honesty! Thanks,
