I've been using Envirotex Lite for years. My rods see a lot of Sun here in Florida, and I can't tell any difference between Envirotex, and the other "rod specific" epoxies I've used.
I have surf rods built over 10 years ago using Envirotex, and they still look great.

I'm in the process of building a monster, Gatorglass, Shark Unlimited blank, With the rod diameter being so large, I had to come up with something different than EVA for a set of grips. Rope was out of the question.
After a lot of searching, I decided to try some of this material, even though I was skeptical of the end result.
I applied this to the blank, and I have to say, this stuff is awe

I'm in the process of building a 10' Gator, Shark-Unlimited. 80 to Unlimited line class for a customer that I purchased from Mudhole. For the life of me, I can't find a reel seat large enough to to get down where it needs to be.
30mm is the minimum ID that it can be, a couple more mm would put it at the ideal position.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put in a link, so I won't. Do a search with these keywords, Water Transfer Printing / Hydrographics, and you will see there are many places who do this.
It's not overly expensive, and is very durable. The best part, is that it is virtually weightless.

I have used most rod finishes out there, and all have worked just fine.
