This is a VERY old fenwick custom built rod that had a pistol grip on it. The grip came off and the guy asked me to fix it.

That looks good Alex. I've tried messing with abalone a few times and that stuff has absolutely kicked my butt every time. I finally gave up and bought a kit and scanned it lol. I know it won't look exactly the same but I am now boycotting abalone lol. The scanning lesson cost me a freakin fortune. Maybe 1 day I'll try it again.

Very good gentlemen, that's the info that I needed. Still curious though if anyone's tried just little dabs of rod bond around the handle before you put the x-flock on? Seems like it would work but if the spray on stuff is easier then that's how I'll go for sure.

I'm thinking about trying out some x-flock on a rod for myself to give a good checking in to before I start offering it on rods that I sell. My question is how the heck do I get it to adhere to the handle? lol I thought it would be some of the shrink tube that would have the glue on the inside already but I guess i should have done a little more research before spending money. What are you guy

I made my own wrapper many moons ago and I bought the motor from an unnamed @#$%& site. Well thanks to an unforeseen design flaw on my part it is dying a slow painful death and I need another motor before this one pukes. The one I bought was a 40 rpm (which I can find on the unnamed @#$%& site again) but I want to step up the rpm's a little this time maybe to a 60 rpm(yeah I know, BIG leap ther

Been out of building for several months because of my work schedule and now I'm kind of lost lol. I have one the Duckett Micro magic rods that I need to replace a guide on for a buddy but I can't find where to buy them. I've done 3 different searches on here and gone through all of the sponsors. Are they not available to the public?

Just something to try. I noticed earlier this year that the trim rings didn't fit quite right on some seats(never thought to measure the ID's and OD's though) and wouldn't stay exactly centered on the looser fits. Once you get everything glued in place take electrical tape and wrap it around the seat, ring, and end the handle. Wrap it pretty tight and the electrical tape being flexible will ke

The rod I'm about to start is going to have a tiger wrap in the split grip. Metallic blue and white are the main colors over a black blank. All I've ever done is black and 1 other color so I'm not sure how to get the blue and white to look right. Blue and white on bottom with black in the over wrap or black and white with a blue over wrap? I know I need to do some test wraps to see but my spa

You won't need to apply any threadmaster first. The decal will be just fine on top of the PG. I'm sure you know but let the PG dry for a couple of days before you do any wiping with alcohol or anything like that.

Guys you need to calm down on the compliments to Lance. He has a lot of rods to build and if you keep it up his head won't fit through the door to his shop! LOL just kidding Lance. Can't beat Lance at all. Great guy, easy to talk to and knows his stuff with what he carries.

I got 2 kistler Helium LTA's in to replace a guide each on and I can't figure out if these have pac bay guides on them or batson's. They have chrome frames (definitely not titanium) with blue rings. Has anyone replaced any of these and know which ones they are? I looked one the internet but apparently they've used about 5 different guides on these which is why I'm confused on these and probabl

I've been using PG for a while now putting a coat of clear on rebuilds and getting great results using a coffee filter to apply it. My problem is using it over guides wraps. How the heck do you get done before it dries??? lol I've been tinkering around with test wraps on and off for about 3 months and I can't get on more than about 3 guides before it starts drying up on me. Someone please tel

It almost 2 years ago when I built my first micro rod for a buddy of mine that I work with. I told him then it would only be a year or 2 before he would start seeing manufacturers with their own micro rods. He got his rod home and all of his friends were laughing at him and saying they were to small and such. He fished with one and outcasted him all day, same with the next and so on. 3 weeks

Lance I told him everything that you just said and he didn't care. He loves the action but can't handle the color at all anymore. I don't like the idea of doing it really and i haven't given him an absolute yes yet. I told him to try to sell them and let me build him one but he didn't seem real thrilled with that one either. I'm not sure whether I'll end up doing it or not I was more just ask

I have a customer who bought some of the orange rods and now he can't stand that color lol. Has anyone tried taking the orange off? I think it's just the regular graphite underneath but I don't want to stripping one until I know for sure.

I have a customer looking for a Carolina rig Rod. He wants it at least 7'6" and a medium heavy fast action(no moderate) 1 piece and the blank needs to be around $100 mark or less. I can get him to move up a little on that but no way I can get up past $130. Preferably he would like a 7'11" but I told him I wasn't sure about that length in a 7'11" medium heavy fast so he'd be ok

I appreciate the help guys. I did a bunch of test wraps on a scrap rod and medium gray no CP with a blue trim is the choice.

I'm having trouble coming up with a thread color to use on a rod. The blank is black, carbon fiber handle with blue trim rings and checks. I want to use blue metallic as a trim band but can't come up with a main color that'll good with this. Any ideas?

Personally I like them. For me they fit my hand VERY well. That doesn't seem to be the case with everyone. I've had a few customers that just plain hated the way the seat fit their hand and went with something else.

I have a customer wanting a crankbait rod for small to medium depth cranks and I'm looking for some suggestions. More than likely this guy will change his mind on what type of rod he wants since he has 4 times already but I told him i would see what was there so here I am. I'm looking at one of the MHX blanks (CB843-blend) but I'm hoping for a few other suggestions to put in front of him. Pric
