I know anything can be done in this hobby, but is making an entire handle out of yellow cedar burl going to affect the rod itself, (ie. flexed rod when fighting a fish). I'm not too concerned about the weight factor, these burl rings are just too good looking not to use. Thanks in advance Trevor Doylend

Just wanted to get some advise on getting the waveyness out over a decaled area on rods. I'm trying to get a nice 3"-4" section over the decal and inscription to be nice and level. I've tried a popsicle stick on edge and had just"OK" results. What is the best product for this application ( ie. LS supreme, gudebrod) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Trevor

Hi all, I've been out of the building scene for some time now due to work but I have decided to get back into it and build myself a new 8 weight. I've been looking at the Sage Xi2. Has anyone out there built one of these rods? If so any tips or suggestions with regards to the blank? Thanks all, Ttrevor

when I tie flys I use many colour combos, I can figure out what colour would look good on a rod, as well as creating a new fly. It's lots of fun. T

I've used the gudebrod finish, it works well but in all cases it has left a oil like swirl in the final product. Didn't matter how much I mixed it, it still came out swirly.

I wish to build a trolling rod, but I would like to make it lighter than the norm. I will be targeting 17-20lb salmon. I'm looking at the 10'6" range. could I use a heavy weight fly blank, or is that just asking for trouble? any input would be appreciated. T
