Cut a red foam and dark blue foam into spirals and glued together used just hoods for reel seat and cut groove in to except reel foot. Is very light and comfortable. Total handle is 12" long because,I extended 6' ultra light by 12".

Built three heavy duty Matrix spin rods of different weights, to find the one most suited for my needs. Center rod is marbleized and is very nice looking,gold and green swirls. Power drive on lens of camera is stuck so could not capture rods. New camera is on way so maybe next pics will be better.

Wrapped a single under wrap color pre.and light coat epoxy. Then triple over wraps first two wraps no color pre. and lihgt coat of epoxy on each. Last over wrap color pre. and coated all with epox. Not bad for first roller rod.

I checked out Cabela's to make sure they still carry layout wrap jig and they still carry it. Its under rod wrappers and such comes with layout jig and hole template for $22.99. ED

I got mine from Cabelas along with the layout angle board with the V cut groove for marking your axises. I think a must have ,made life a lot better. Ed

Thanks for all the feed back. What I was attempting to do is make an all around rod for trowing swim baits and such for striped bass. I want it to be fun with 2 pounders and have enough brass the land the occasional toad. Ive been playing with the new matrix blanks . I've been watching a fishing show that the fisherman is using graphite rod with a Kevlar sleeve. I have not been able to find same. I read where knot doesn't hold up well when tied with fluorocarbon. Said it cuts into itself. I found this interesting because I thought it was a good knot for all lines. ED

I already cut about 14" off for the ub6 butt. If I don't use the ferrule for the ub2 , the handle will fit. ED..
