If I cover my threads with Permagloss then decide I do not like the appearance is there any reason I can not cover the Permagloss with Flexcoat high build or Thread Master to return to the "norm"?? THX

So I don't have to buy one of each I would like to know what the favorites are for thread wrapping finishes and why .... so far I have only used Flex Coat High Build but I thknk there may be better options for micro guides - I ordered some Permagloss today to try.

1/2 " is an estimate. I measure with a reel on it prior to cutting with a band saw.............after it is cut I end up with one or two threads showing cause that's what i like ................ :)

I have the split grip shaped, fuji ecm reel seat cut out to expose the full blank and the threads cut off approx 1/2 inch so now I am ready tp wrap and finish. I cut about an inch of the butt and the rod stands at 85". This rod will primarily be used for buzzbaits, traps, crankbaits - largemouth bass fishing!
What method - spiral, simple spiral, conventional do you use and recommend?

I wrapped my first micro guide rod and applied the high build flex coat finish and noticed it is more diificult for me to get good coverage of the small area in front of the guide due to the guide being so small and low profile........what are some finish application tips to get good coverage without making a mess and getting finish in the guides...... THX

I just received a Seeker S Glass blank and it has the grayish - green color so I know it is S Glass based on what I have read..............the last one I built on that I thought was S Glass was grayish - black in color..........is the grayish black one actually E glass and NOT S Glass or have they changed the color over the course of the last year or so?

Great ideas.....keep them coming. Any pics available? I have searched the photo page - maybe it's me but I do not see any. The pvc and vice idea may work for me.....for weight I'm thinking about a gal milk jug of water in order to incrementally add weight so as to perform the test per T. Kirkman's method. Any more thoughts or ideas are most appreciated...........

I am currently building a couple of simple spiral bass fishing rods ..... one is a Seeker BS706S and one is a Batson ISJ783. The Seeker being a large diameter rod may require a little larger stripper and 180 but is there any reason on the ISJ783 than I can not use all size 4 guides.................Thank you.

Brian - I would use all single foot guides..............Tom answered the question about the bumper guide!

Brian, on that blank I would build a simple spiral with guides no larger than 2 -8's and the rest 6's.........................the first guide at 0 (8) next bumper at 90 (6), first 180 (8), all others at 180 (6's). Would even go smaller but no bigger!!

WOW Steve thanks for all the reading material...........based on all the info looks like my next build will be done using Micro's .....can you point me in the right direction for 3.5 and/or 4.0 micro's - where to buy and what do you guys use for the tip top? I will be building on a Seeker BS706 S Glass that is rated for a 5.5 tip top if I remember correctly.

Currently I use 2 8's and the rest are size 6 blag guides on my simple spiral wraps for my bass rods. After reading the buzz about micro guides I am wanting to build my next rod - a BS706S glass Seeker - using micro guides. I use 15 lb floro and I am wanting to know 2 things:
1.) Why would I convert to Micro guides - benefits? weight, sensitivity, casting dist. ??
2.) What size should I use
