I was at the show today, and thought it was great. I know it can't compare to the Custom Rod Expo. But it was great to have something close to home that I could go to. I'm not sure who was responsible for putting it on or I would thank you personaly, but thanks to all who where responsible. I'm not sure of the financial sucess, but the people there seemed to be enjoying the seminars and where lea

Just posted some pics of a few rods I recently finished in the handles section. I biult three UL spinning rods, two 9' 5wt fly rods and two 10' 6 wt rods on the Rain Shadow RX 8 blanks. I learned and tried a lot of new things and products on these rods, and the learning curve was great.
I turned my grips and real seats, tried Andy's exotic burl, great to work with and looks great.

Alot of great comments... I have wanted to get to the show for the last three years, and just can't afford it. I'm not a poor man, just a man with other responsibilities. I live in Fontana, Ca. near Ontario where Tom had considered holding the show at one time. Boy was I disapointed when He decided it wasn't a good idea to hold the show here and that he couldn't get the response here that he does

I wrote to ray, he said the sizes where correct and gave me a couple of places to get them, I'l see about the drill bit. idea. the one for the nut is a 13/16 hole though. lonny

???? what do you mean, You would cut a hole irregsrdles of the fit. All drill bits will drill a hole but if I have a 7/16 bolt I'm not going to drill a 3/8 hole to put it in.

I'm sorry,
I'm a little dyslexcic, and not very clear about what I need. Ray Jorgensen Recomended using the forstner bit when boring the hole for the IPS real seat and for grip to seat into the wood handle, I'm attempting to build. I have a set of bits but there all in 1/8 increments. None of the stores I have looked in have the Forstner bits in 1/16 increments. Lonny

Hi all
was wondering if anyone knows the bore size for the ISP grip and the for-grip. As near as I can tell its 11/16 AND 13/16, which I'm having a hard time finding. Would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks Lonny

If you shop around you can actually get the Jet for less. I was lucky on my timing, and got the jet for 199, with a promo of 25 off, and recieved free shipping. Total cost was 174, and they shipped it priority, received it in 2 days, right before Christmas. The turncrafter was 159 plus 30 shipping, and it was not going to be available until the middle of Jan.
I think the Jet is a great lathe,
