Thanks Fred, I was getting to the generic drug example myself. The way the law works is you get to have rights to an invention - the patent for 17 years and then anybody can make it. Trademarks last longer but do not convey the same rights as a patent. That's the way it is supposed to work and apparently did in this case. If Fuji doesn't like it they can appeal and see what a set of appeals c

I'd vote for the Rainshadow SU1266 although it is a 10'6" rod. You could leave it the same or trim it a bit. I would also suggest you set it up with Fuji Low Rider Surf Guides on the new concept method.

All Star has discontinued their blank line so get them while you can. I know of at least several suppliers who still have a fairly good stock of their blanks including Ryan White at Hatteras Jack's in Rodanthe NC.

You might want to take Andy up on his offer as the All Star blanks are no longer being sold, except in finished rods. Shakespeare also dropped five models of the finished salt water rods from the All Star line.

I habve used string many times for a reel seat. I use cotton chalk line which is a laid (twisted) twine. You can seperate the three strands and use one, two, or three to get a good fit. I also saturate the twine with 2-Ton epoxy. Here's how:
1. To see how much twine you need wrap the area where the reel seat will be with as many layers of twine as needed get a good fit by winding it on the
