I've been building on the Lamiglas IMS 843 for years and my customers love 'em. Lamiglas has discontinued this blank and I can't seem to get any info from Lamiglas as to a similar replacement . Any ideas on a Lamiglas blank that may be similar. Used for bass...worms and light cranks. Thanks, E...

I just received an old Orvis fly rod for repair. It is labeled for a #9 fly line but this doesn't seem to be a 9 wt. rod. I think that I remember that the "#9" is an antiquated designation. What line weight should I start with to match this rod? Thanks for any input. Later, E...

Since moving to a rural area I am having to use Wild Blue (satalite based) internet service. Now, when I try to access this site I get a network error with the message "dns server error". The only way I can access the site is through an anonymous server which gives me only limited functionality. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a work around? Thanks, E..

I want to use a Tiger Wrap on a Georgia Bulldog rod for a friend. What color combination would be close to the team colors. I started setting up test wraps using black/white base wrap with red on top and red/white with black on top. Any ideas on these combos and guide wraps? Would be much easier if everyone was a Bama fan. Later, E..

A friend brought me an old rod for some cork repair and information. The rod is labeled as a Cabella's Match rod, 12 foot, 8 - 12 lb. He called Cabella's and they didn't have any info on the rod. Anyone know anything about this rod? What is a Match Rod used for? Thanks, E...

That was the Simoniz Fix It Pro Pen. I spent $10 on it and didn't have much luck with it. The instructions state that the application must be exposed to sunlight for 1 - 48 hours. I never could get it to harden. Use Prema Gloss for half the price. It works. Later, E...

Here's another unusual request. The fellow wants a 12 - 13' rod that's very whippy to be used with 2 lb. test on a spinning reel to cast 1/16 jig head to pond bass. He's currently using one that he's made from several cut up blanks glued together but now he wants me to build him 2 nice rods. He can cast that jig a really long way with the flip on his wrist and he catches large bass on this ar

I have a request for a crappie rod to be used for "shooting" jigs under piers. This fellow is holdinbg the rod in one hand and the jig in the other and bending the rod almost double and letting the go of the jig to shoot it. He wants a 5 1/2' rod with a limber tip (obviously) that bends almost to the midpoint of the rod and then a strong butt. Is this a common technique? He was demo
