Thanks Gentlemen, It like a mythbuster program, but the truth speaks for itself. So the backbone of the blank is NOTgoing to have any additional punch, into launching the fly off to a good distance. The straighest axis........and the fly line is the key factor. Is it true to say that with a slower blank "cannot'' hold a long length of line out in the air on a back cast? It always c

Folks.... I will be building a 4 pcs 7wt fly rod blank. and would like to max out the casting ability of the blank to deliver a large fly for saltwater use. Do I now align the lower two piece of the blank like a conventional rod and the top two piece of the blank like a spining rod? Or all should be in the same alignment from tip to butt. Which direction is the rightful, and how is the alig

Hi All I bought a dozen of epoxy and have stored them over a long period, the bottle and packing is already yellow and sticky all over. If I were to use these on my customers rod will it compensate the strength and finishing of the finish products, while I continue to use the recently order epoxy which are both clear in the packaging. You can get a small pin to punctual into the bubble, if the bubbles are big enough. This allows the new epoxy coating to fill up the air gap. On the other hand, you can also use the miniature file set, to level any undulating surface. I use this method many times with success. Do give a try. Cheers LY Chua

Almost the same question in my mind! I recently use a combination of lite and regular as finishing coat. The lite coat while coated thin soaks into the crevices of the guide foot and so forth. When it comes to butt wrap, it will coat over but will not form a layer over the threads. On one hand it eliminates the formation of bubbles, (although it can be remove by using a alcohol torch)
