Im with the guys, I make my own rod tubes for my customers. I would rather my suppliers spend there resources on new products for rod building than to tie it up on an item that can be hand made quite easily. If you like building rods than storage tubes should be real easy for you to make.

If you act quickly you can still get one of the last G Loomis Bronze blanks in the CB843...It is great for cranks and spinnerbaits. If built with micros it is a hard to beat blank in my opinion.

Hi All I got an email through my web page from a fellow rod builder who recently purchased a lot of rods for repair. The people selling the rods say that rod builders use a "flux machine" and a "regraphiter" to repair these rods and are refusing to take them back. What is a flux machine or a regraphiter. It sounds like something out of star trek and I am guessing it is

Hello All, I am wanting to know what guides you people are using for everyday repairs, I need a (value priced) aluminum oxide guide and tip top supplier. I used to use the ones that Sevier Manufacturing sold but from what I hear they are either going or gone out of this part of the business. They sold a great product for the price. I want to state that this is for everyday repairs, nothing fan

If you are not a business then no worries. If you dont sell your product to the public then you have no worries unless your friends turn you in to the IRS. I go around with them all the time and they have no want to infringe on a hobby that yeilds no profit. Start a rod building company and pay your tax or build your rods and give em to whom ever and dont worry about it.

We must all not take this so personal. It is just opinions. Loomis is a dieing cow and shimano just wants to know how to cut up the pieces to make the most profit. This doesnt make it right or wrong it is what it is. Everything for the greater dollar. I am just glad I dont need to build rods to survive cos it just wouldnt happen. If Shimano wanted too they could find a way to make blanks profitab

I had no problems with mine. I prefer to make my own by cutting down one piece seats so I can design it myself and make them even smaller. I dont think 2 pc reel seats will make you feel anymore bites than a windowed seat. If you are touching the blank then you are touching the blank. It does help with overall reduction of weight wich will contribute to sensitivity. this is only my opinion take i

Welcome Kyle, Get Tom Kirkmans book or Ken Prestons both will answer your questions but most important get a subscrption to Rodmaker magazine to get in on all the up and coming techniques in the field. the grip you are talking about is a Tennesee handle and if you are fishing fresh water you dont even need the rings. Re enforced packing tape is the bomb. The tip top is a 4.5 tube/ 4, or 5 or 6

I dont think the reels read the lables that manufacturers put on the blanks packaging. I cross the uses all the time to achieve the actions I want. Dont let lables get in the way of making rods. I also almost always make my own ferrules and cut 1 pc rods down. Life is an adventure til the game is over.

I take a 3/16 drill bit inmy dremel and put a hole in the keyed section of the threaded barrel and another on the under side of the seat just before the rear grip. I then use an epoxy syringe to inject 20 min epoxy in one hole under pressure until it comes out the other hole, clean up with alcohol and let dry. GO SLOW AS NOT TO MAR THE BLANK (common sense)

What sort of tool do you guys use to create the negative in your handle stock. dremel with router attachment? I read the article in rodmaker volume 7-? but all it talked about was trim rings and diagnal cuts. At the end of the article it stated that another article on inlays would follow in the next couple of issues. I would also like to know if there is an article and was it printed or when wil

Does anyone have any ideas on a blank for fishing frog baits over grass mats. The boys in PA are weighting and trimming the darn things so they act like a zara spook on the mat (walking the dog action). the average depth of the mat is 4 feet and the tip has to be soft enough to let the bait walk ( like a jerkbait) while strong enough to haul 3-6lbs of fish and 10lbs of grass. Maybe it just doesnt
