Here is a shot of what a single foot guide with a barb on the backside, discussed on the thread started by Joseph Arvay might look like.

18. what went wrong?
Fishhawk metallic hot pink. When I put color preserver on it got very splotchy. Looks a little better now that it’s dry, but still not great. I thought that I had packed and burnished very well, it looked fabulous before I put the color preserver on.

22. Balance Kit
Here is a picture of the finished balance kit. It uses a thread insert epoxied in the end of the blank, a threaded rubber coated bumper, and brass weights. The large diameter weights installed completely off the end of the blank can achieve neutral balance with less overall weight than putting lead inside the blank.

This is a to scale model of a 3mm OD 2mm ID guide ring with .71mm 50lb mono line through it. As you can see there is still plenty of room, these new guides are quite small but so is fishing line.

Since you are covering it with a carbon sleeve anyway you don’t have to have a mirror smooth finish on the mold, this drastically reduces the machining cost. With this design you could reproduce any grip shape you could dream up and have t

LSG 3.5 guide compared to a BLAG 7, I was out of sixes. This shows just how small and low these guides are.

30. LSG 3.5 tip
This shows a LSG 3.5 guide wrapped as a tip on the end of a Lamiglas XMG50 LSJ 842. It has a Forhan locking wrap and one coat of Diamondite. These are not as small as some of the guides that Steve has been working with, but you can build with these right now without waiting for the mini guides to come in.
