St. Croix SCV that I won at the Rodmaker reception before the 2010 ICRBE. Thanks to Jason at St. Croix and RodMaker. Built it last summer and it fishes great. One of the many reasons I'll be at the reception again this year.

Joint effort between Al Ciner and myself. Al built the rod as a gift for a friend and asked me to put in the packer weaves. We used the same pattern (38 x 170) in both spots, using madeira 40 wrapped by Nerbs size B. I'm not a huge packer fan but the rod made this guy's Christmas.

Been working on this one for a while, finally got the pictures together. Grips are wine corks put together with tinted rod bond. Reel seat insert is a foam shim painted with the pattern, coated with thread finish. I like the way it turned out, but I would do things a little different the next time.

One layer, 360 degree weave of a brick wall. I started out with 191 threads and ended up with 187 after 613 turns. I did this with 2 sets of flat looms, not recommended. Very happy with the way it turned out.

or as close as I can get. Even with the macro I can't get it to focus any closer, as it is the lens is only 3/4 of an inch from the rod. The weave is only 12mm long so there isn't much to work with. I think you can view a larger image by clicking on the printer icon in the box below.

Had this one done for a bit, but I've tried to get a good pic. Have to settle for this one. 34 X 58 6 color/5 layer. Madeira 60 wrapped by Madeira 40. Done on a 6 mm blank, I had to downsize the thread to get more threads in the pattern.

Finished this one over the holiday weekend. 5 Layers, 38 x 170 Size A wrapped with A. I think I was a little too aggressive in the number of spots I put in the pattern.

Swiss cross from teh Book done with Fishhawk Varigated thread. Cool thread, not sure it's used properly here, half the time I like the look, the other I want to cut if off.

Rainshadow SWS70L did exactly what I hoped it would. 44" fish, hit a topwater, I hate when that happens!

A (mis)matched set of 4 Eagle Claw Powerlight glass rods. They were due for a rewrap so I tried to pretty them up a bit. Thanks to Al Ciner for helping me figure out the pattern. Kind of obvious which color pattern was done first.

Since I can't leave well enough alone, I tried incorporating a fish silhouette into the bottom layer of a tiger wrap. I was going for a fish in water look and achieved it to a limited degree. I used all gudebrod metallic thread, 9245 royal blue and 9006 steel blue for the bottom layer with the weave in 9001 silver. The top layer is 9050 electric blue. The weave is 47 threads by 89 turns.
