Its a shame Shakespeare bought them. I can see nothing good to come of that . Anyone who evevn occasionaly fishes knows how shakespeare quality is hehehe. Threre are however decent reels that are churned out from china. Most of the parts in the american reels and from all other foreign made reels have been made in china for many years. Are there any reels made in the US any more?

IE7 has a ton of compability issues with many sites and a very large majority of software appz that uitilize IE. It is completely riddled with bugs and the bugs will most likely not get ironed out for another 6 months or so after the release of the home verison of Windows Vista. I reccomend that you remove the IE7 update and install and use Firefox for the majority of your web surfing. It will ke

Tom I looked at some of the large mail order places such as cabelas. They have a blank that will suit my needs and a prebuilt on the same blank (yuck) that does not have enough guides to keep the line from having any flat spots when doubled up. Has anyone had an experience with the Cabelas brand blanks?

For crappie I would go with a slower action rod as the old paper mouths do not require a hard hookset and the slower rod will be a bit more forgiving while fighting them. This will keep you from ripping the hooks out of their mouths while fighting and hooking. A faster action rod would be more sensitive but you do not require the extreme sensitivity to tell the difference between some gravel on t

2lb is more than plenty for 10-30lb carp if you got the room to play with them. I typically step up to 4lb for the carp which is were the extra backbone will come in handy. With the proper set up you can turn a large powerful fish with light line after you play it for a couple minutes. I am in Ohio Jay.

They have a light action model on their site but not an ultra light. Possibly it is in thier catalog which I will have to get a copy of. I run 2lb test for browns and rainbows. Light line gets you more bites!

If it was a manufacured handle that your reamed and glued you may be able to cut it off carefully with a dremel. If you build your own handle on the blank cork ring by cork ring inserting and gluing in the reel seat with epoxy ,then compress before sanded to fit your hand then you are screwed as you will never get it apart without damaging the blank. With this method there is a lot more epoxy hol

I also did not pay attention to the rules and used a nickame I commonly use. Seems like a good forum with lots of info and helpful members so far. I got several responses in a very short period of time. I'm still looking for the right blank but the blank reccomended by scott looks like it might make a good rod for pitching small surface plugs and tiny buzz baits for bass or a nice walleye stick.

Thank you. For your responses. I will take a look at these. I do not want a shorter rod with an extension as I prefer to bulid my handle on the blank for sensitivity as it will be used as a trout rod half of the time.

For those who reponded before my post was deleted (eventhough i changed username to actual name) thank you but I did not get to read the posts Once again I am looking for a 7-8ft fast action ultralight blank to build a new trout/big carp rod light line rod. I have looked at several manufacturers and have had a heck of a time finding one. I have a budget of $100 for the blank. The closest I fo
