Are these blanks available? If so, from whom? Looking for the Legend Elite 8wt 9ft.
Thanks much.

I've wrapped a couple with Gudebrod 6779 Medium Green. Matches the blank pretty well with no color preserver. Looks pretty good with black metallic trim bands, and looked quite nice with copper metallic.
Good luck.

Morning,
Looking at two Loomis blanks (if I can find one of them around anymore...) the FR10810-4 -3CC and the FR10810-4-4CCGLX
anybody know what the difference is? I'm assuming that the GLX is faster, but figured I'd ask.
Thanks much.

I built the same rod for a guy over the summer. I went with black wire single foot running guides, black alconite stripper, blk (see a theme here?) UL3 reel seat with rosewood, black thread wraps with green metallic trim bands. I have to say, the stealth look really looked good, and the green pops against the black.
Nice little rod, noodley, but cast pretty well.

6. Re: Sage TCX
I saw and cast the TCX yesterday at the AFFTA show. According to the rep, they will be selling a blank and she said that it is available now or will be as soon as production ramps up. I'll take that last part with a grain of salt as I haven't looked to see whether any distributors have them for sale yet.
Pretty blank, very light, and wonderful to cast at least to my arm. I liked the TCR,

I've got one of these I'm wrapping up now for a client who is doing some redfishing. His is also an 8wt. I've been building rods that aren't as high end lately, and the fit and finish on the Sage is much better; it's a great looking blank.
Nothing out of the ordinary that I've found in the build that I'd warn you about. It has been pretty straight forward so far. The spine is marked, th

Steve,
I'll agree with the other posters, the merchandise looks fantastic.
Can you comment on the suitability of your stabilized wood for use in salt water reel seats and handle accents?
thanks much.

I'm drilling with a drill press for now. Once I get the 4 jaw chuck, i'll bore on the lathe of course.
I just build fly rods, so length isn't much of an issue. I'll probably just end up ordering a 12 inch or so mandrel.
thanks again all.

Mike,
email unhidden, although I can't check that email while here at work. I've been woodworking as a hobby for years, but this is the first time I've had the opportunity to make spinny things. I would appreciate any info you care to send.
Thanks to all for the suggestions. I am still gathering pieces, and don't yet have a scroll chuck. So I'll have to turn between centers for now.

Morning folks,
I just bought a Rikon lathe and am a bit confused as to what I need to use the Lamar mandrels to turn grips. I want the threaded mandrel, as I plan on doing some wood accented grips, so that is one decision down.
The lathe only has 16 inches between centers though, and I believe the mandrels are 18 inches. can I just cut off a couple of inches? I'm planning on using a dr

12. Re: rOD tUBES
Great question and one I'm interested to see the responses.
I've done the internet search and failed to find anything cheap enough. The tubing is out there, but I just can't seen spending a hundred bucks or more for a rod tube.
I've been toying with the idea of laying carbon or kevlar fabric over a PVC or ABS tube just for the look.
If you found a tube, what would you do for end ca

Gentlemen,
thanks much for the thoughts; reading your responses and sitting down with some catalogs, it makes a lot more sense. Now, I know that I won't know till I tape it up, but how does this sound on a 6wt 9ft TFO TICR:
TYSG12, TLSG12, TLSG10, TLSG8, then the rest at TLSG6
I'm still trying to square the recent Rod Maker article about using the smallest guides necessary and figure o

Howdy all, I have a pretty beginner type question.
I'm building up a 6wt trout rod and want to use single foot guides. This will primarily be my streamer rod for boat use and probably will mostly be outfitted with a sink tip or intermediate sink line. I'm a bit confused as to what I'd be best off with as far as guides goes...
Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Will good ol
