With a 7.5" grip and a 2" fighting butt built on the blank, it comes out just right.

A permanent fighting butt can't get lost and is always there when you need it. I like a fghting butt on all my rods-like an inch or so even on light (3 to 5 weights) rods. Only problem might be if you use a reel on the rod case. A fighting but helps keep crud out of the reel when sitting it on the ground and gives me some extra cranking room when I put the rod butt against my belly.

Jeff, It was leaning on the rod while getting onto the front of the raft that broke the tip, not casting overload. And Dan was super to deal with to get a replacement section.

I got some funny looks using a FT 904 in AK fishing for silvers. I used a Rio Versitip with the type 6 head. It cast really well (wasn't near as sweet when I broke off the tip top and first gujde) The CCS of 8.35 ERN and AA of 77 led me to believe it would make a nice 7 weight and it did. Was I fishing a 4 weight like the blank said or a 7 weight like the line I was using???

Dennis, Could her disbelief have anything to do with some of the company you keep?? But I still think you are a class act. Have fun this weekend, wish I was going to be there.
