I apply the next coat as soon as the previous one feels dry to the touch. (I touch-test the leftover epoxy, not that on the wraps.) I think you could ruin the previous coat if it is still wet when you put on the next one.

You can use a STAEDTLER Mars Matic Technical Pen (#700) with Mars Matic Drawing White Ink (#745-0 Opaque White). I live in Canada but I bought my pen and ink from this website: www.mypenshop.com. I think they are in the U.K. I use the 0.18mm tip but it's hard to clean. The 0.25mm is supposedly easier to keep clean. Or you can use a caligraphy pen with Testors paint. I like the stiff pen tips b

What would be the disadvantages of putting Permagloss over Polyurethane Clear or over Spar Urethane? I love Permagloss for its toughness and its resistance to solvents. I am looking for an intermediate coat to protect the paint on the blank before I apply Permagloss. I don't like that Polyurethane Clear can easily be removed with Acetone so I did an experiment: 1) I sprayed Polyurethane Clear

I use Hunt caligraphy pen nibs (#512 for my thick letters, #107 for medium, & 104 for fine) and Testors Enamel Paint as ink (#1146 Silver & #1144 Metallic Gold). I clean my nibs with acetone and I found out that it melts the Speedball handles so I made my own handles using scrap blanks.

I want to learn more about it. Maybe the CCS website can be updated with it (whoever is responsible for that site). I guess I may have to find a way to get a copy of Vol 10 #4 but for now, all I need is the process and/or formula for determining lure rating. No rush, Tom. Just post it when you get the chance. Once again, thank you.

Tom, I don't have volume 10 #4. Please put up the info when you can. Thank you very much. That Universal Rod Rating System is interesting; is there anywhere else we can read up on it besides RodMaker Vol 10 #4?

In the Common Cents System articles, there is this formula for determining lure rating: For the upper end of the weight range: (1.5 x number of cents) - 20 = weight in grains For the lower end of the weight range: (.8 x number of cents) - 20 = weight in grains How were these formulas derived? Why 1.5 and .8? Why 'minus 20'? I'm just trying to understand it. You see, besides n

I think I'll ask the retailers from whom I buy my rod building stuff if they'll consider doing it. Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying that. I'm just wondering if it is possible for U.S.-based online retailers to sell the magazine and your CDs on a per issue basis. You know, so that you personally don't have to deal with shipping to outside the U.S. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for the magazine/CD plus shipping.

Tom, is it available only in the U.S. or can you ship outside, too?

I think that just by having high quality blanks (like GLX, SC-V, etc.) available in two or multi piece & in varying action/power/length will help convince a lot of fisherman to try them. All you have to do is tell them that 'this Magbass blank is top-of-the-line and is sooo good it does not matter if it is 12 pieces, you will still feel a fish f*rt'. LOL

1. Two-piece extra-fast action dropshot & shakeyhead blanks. Generally, I dream of more choices in two or multi-piece bass blanks. 2. Telescopic (not the 2-piece-only kind) travel blanks. Yes, I'm a portability nut. I have this personal rule that any blank 7' or more should be either 3-or-more sections or telescopic. Only exception is with bass blanks which should be minimum 2-piece to a

Thanks. I thought that by now a manufacturer/dealer in North America would have started making and selling these grips. I guess I have to get it from Matagi then.

Help, please. Anybody started selling these grips yet? I've seen the cork ones at some websites but I want EVA. And maybe somebody knows the tricks and tools to use to make one and wants to share some tips :-) Thanks.

I can't find it in their catalog, Tom. I saw one called 'Cutter Grip Inletting Tool' that's sold by Mud Hole but the description does not mention if it can be used on EVA.
