I had a great time at the show this weekend seeing old friends and meeting new ones. This event is a must see for rod builders as you have the opportunity to meet the people and experience the best by far rod building components available In this industry. I had the opportunity this year to represent American Tackle as a ProStaff team member. One of the highlights for me was my fellow pro st

I would like to add to Joaquim's post that he also has customers in North Carolina that are already using this new product and are extremely satisfied with the results. I have been using the Cork 4Us Electric oven for several years now as my good friend Norm Hull purchased one at the ICRBE in High Point. The simplicity of using this product where you open a can, brush vanish on your wraps th

I have recently picked up a few Vintage handle kits that are 2 piece, wooden butt and foregrip. Im looking for suggestions on what kind of blanks that would work for these. The butt and foregrip are recessed where a real seat will go and I suspect I will only drill the foregrip out to place the blank into. Looking to use for saltwater application surf, inshore, etc. Thanks for all reply's B

In my opinion anything you get from Mud Hole will be a good experience for you! I have built rods on the Mud Hole blanks with terrific results. I built a rod on a CRB blank that the customer told me it was the best rod he had ever owned. Im really impressed with their MHX blanks that they are carrying now. For the money you cannot beat these blanks!! Brad Hetzel

I have built a Spinning rod with one, I use an older FIN-NOR AHAB 8 for the reel. Built for for inshore fishing in the Carolinas. I have been catching winter trout and Red fish here over the Christmas holidays. The tip is fast enough to not spook the trout when they take a plug and has enough backbone to land big Red fish. Very light, reminds me of the IMX blanks. (Without the cost)

If I remember right some of these kits come with the finish in pre packaged envelopes and if you don't squeeze all of the contents out of each packet, you will not get the exact one to one mix that with some Manufactures you will require for a finish that wont be tacky. Being this is your second rod you may find that you are starting a hobby that has an addictive edge to it and you will be mo

Thanks everyone, Yes, I was looking here for any sponsors that may be carrying these now. I spoke to Ryan and he does sell them there. I asked him if he had seen the CTS Blanks as it reminded me of the lightweight surf blank that I saw in Highpoint this year at Fishsticks booth. Thanks again Brad Hetzel

I have tried to recreate the G-Loomis surf rod grip and I have used the 3M surface walk tape. The grip is so gritty that I could saw someones head off with it. Is there something that anyone knows of that could soften down the texture of the tape? Heat maybe. The G-Loomis grip has a simular texture but dosnt have the abrasive feel to it. Thanks for all replys Brad Hetzel

Thanks For the replys Bruce, Bob. This is a on one of the surf rods I saw at this place in Evansville In. as I was going home over Thanksgiving that sell G-Loomis. I bet they had every G-Loomis rod that they make. It appears that G-Loomis dont make all of their blanks available that they use on some of their own rods. I havnt worked on a G-Loomis blank yet, but I look forward to, and wanted

Does anyone have information on the wrap that G-Loomis uses for their 12' Surf SU1448 rods? It feels like that rhino liner material they spray inside of truck beds to me. Has a rough texture feel, I suspect its a wrap of some sort, dont know! Thanks for all replys Brad Hetzel

I know I have seen a copy of a sheet that records the customers name and rod build specs used for each custom blank on this forum. But I cannot find a copy of it anywhere on my PC. Could someone please repost a copy of what they use when building customer rods. Im wanting to start keeping this data on the rods I build. I have received some positive feedback on several of my rods, and I find
