the rheostat controls the maximum rpm's of the motor when the foot pedal is fully depressed. allows you to fine tune speed to your liking. American Tackle could probably help you out with replacement

If you are using an automotive basecoat/clearcoat system the clearcoat is the protective coating. Exactly what paint system were you planning on using?

Bulldog does not get mixed with the paint. It gets sprayed directly onto the part, then the base coat is applied after the bulldog flashes off. about 5-10 minutes. As I said previously, it is an adhesion promotor/flex agent. It is used on automotive bumper covers prior to applying the basecoat. If you are using a urethane black, it should be plenty shiny and durable enough without putting a clearc

If the blank is properly stripped down and prepped you do not need the primer. Use a product called bulldog which is an adhesion promotor/flex agent. If your using an automotive basecoat/clearcoat system, the basecoats do not require hardener. make sure you have adequate ventilation and breathing respirator as the chemicals in these products are highly toxic. Where were you planning on spraying?

SEM makes a stripper for automotive buumper covers. Comes in an aerosol can. Used it many times in the past with no damage to the blanks. Actually did a demo of it at a nerbs gathering a couple of years ago. Should be available at any autobody supply store. Tony

If its just one small area on one rod and everything else is ok it could be some contamination such as grease or oil that caused the problem. It doesn't take much to cause the finish to fisheye up. After or as you apply the finish are you leaving the rod turn on a drier? could just be too much material in one area causing the finish to sag. I also agree with Bill that you are putting way too much

Clyde, Another line you might want to consider are the American Tackle ATX tuna standup blanks. Built a few for some friends fishing the Jersey canyons and they've been reel pleased with them. Mudhole carries them. Tony

Thanks for the input. The rod is going to be used in the Florida saltwater inshore & backountry. Line will probably be 20 lb. test powerpro. Guides are more than likely to be Amtac HLG's or Fuji BSVLG. Thanks, Tony

First time building a travel blank so I could use some advice on building. Blank is an Amtac at844-3 3 piece 7' long. Reel supplied to me is a penn550s with an outside spool diameter of 55 mm. Rear grip is 10". I tried measuring for the new concept method of guide placement and the 27x method places the choker guide about 8" from the tip. I personally think the reel is abit to big for

Jeff, I've built bunker spoon rods for friends here in Jersey using Fuji HB silicon nitride guides and Fuji USG silicon Carbides. Haven't been any problems with either and the people I built them for use them alot. Tony Fialkowski

Will titanium nitride coated rings ( Amtac bgsg guides) hold up to wire line in a bunker spoon rod application. Don't want to use them if they are going to start to groove up. or am I better off sticking with carbide guides Thanks, Tony fialkowski

Looking for suggestions for a blank comparable to what's used on a Shimano Trevalo jigging blank model tvc-58xh. Rod is 5'8'long and rated for 80-200lb. braided line. From what i've read in previous posts Shimano does not make their blanks available. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I was asked to rebuild a Star Rods model: gp 8/72 cc. Rod is 6' medium action with a 7.5 tip. I'm looking for suggestions for a replacement blank, as it will be far less time consuming to start with a new blank and build from the ground up instead of trying to resurrect this one. Looking at past posts on this subject, this might be a gator glass blank but didn't find anything with those dimension

The lamiglas bt1083m is pretty much the standard . Last season just as an experiment I tried building one of the Batsons mentioned above and spiral wrapped it. Instead of wire, I tried trolling power pro line with a 6 oz. drail and about a 10 foot leader. The action with the bunker spoons was amazing, and at times seemed to be out fishing my traditional lamis, using the same size and color spoon

Came home from work one day and my cat had a piece of thread sticking out of its mouth. Tried pulling it out unsuccesfully so off to the vet it was. The cat had eaten about a 10 ft length of thread I left lieing around. Needless to say the vets bill for the required surgery cost me dearly. The vet said it could have been fatal and would have been if I tried pulling to hard as it would have royall

This has been quite an education for me. I guess I should have done a little research before I went ahead and used these guides. Its unfortunate since I had a lot of comments from other boat owners at my marina as to how sharp these guides looked. My next dilemma is I have a few more sets of these guides + a couple of tichrome reel seats that I hope I can get exchanged for the black ones(Purch

Built a couple of rods for myself last winter using amtac gcuv guides for the first time(tichrome finish with gold rings. The rods are used in saltwater. My question is are these guides not recommended for use in saltwater. After one season I had one tip fail due to corrosion in the welds and the other guides are showing green corrosion around the rings and pitting in the finish. The rods are th

Many thanks for the replies. Sounds like I may have started something here with an unknown product. I did locate an embroidery shop not that far from where I live that carries this line of thread. When I have a chance to get there and buy some and try it out, I'll post a report on it. Thanks,

I'm looking for a substitute for the gudebrod electra metallic threads, as it seems that they have dropped most of the colors in that line. I came across a line of thread made by a manufacturer called Yenmet, and was wondering if anyone had ever heard of or used any of their product and what their opinion of it was. The color charts of the thread show some interesting colors. I especially need

Scott, I work in a body shop and have been using the glasurit system also for many years without ever having a problem. I've also used sikkens base coat clear coat in the past. Put some of the paint manufacturers flex additive in the clear coat and you should have no problems. Tony Fialkows
