Keep looking- It should be available. I bought some a yr or so ago for a traditional wood refinish project but don't recall if it was Home Depot or Lowes or it could have been wallyworld. By the way it worked well for me and not as nasty as many of the other wood strippers.

You might ck with Sage. I built a 11', 11wt maybe 4 yrs ago. It was configured into a mooching rod. That blank was a bear to find.

I would look in the yellow pages for outfits that provide engineering stuff or drafting supplies. Call a few and maybe they can direct you somewhere

I use 4 or 5X tippet material. Yes I break one once in a while. I suppose I could use 6-8 # mono if I had some. The only problem With tippet is you have to put a piece of tape or something on it or you can't find it when you set it down

Here's another approach you might try. I have two rods that are a touch tip heavy. Not Much. They actually balance well if I grab the handle toward the front 1/2 but I don't rather I tend to grab the back cuz I cast better there....... So I stripped alll the line and backing off my reel and put one spool of the lead wire that fly tiers use on the reel and reinstalled the backing and line. S

Let me add something here. You need to also consider your climate especially the temperature and humidity in relation to where the wood came from. If it is stabilized wood it will not matter. For example if I order wood from say the east coast or the south, I know that the climate is damper there than here in Colorado. I would recommend letting the wood from those sources set for a month or s

I don't know how others do it, but I would not put CP or anything on a wrap until I have done ALL of the wraps. That way I can adjust spacing and alignment if needed (for me it always is) without any trouble. Good Luck!

Not sure what trim to use. I have another one to build (6wt) but I have been busy with another rod. I am partial to the reds so might do a gray with red trim but need to give it more thought

Be sure you check the color of that blank in bright full sunlight. If it is like mine I wrapped with a green but in full light it shows some blue which makes the green wraps off a little........It still catches fish well. I think a red (for me) would have looked better.

FYI-- The current issue of Fine Woodworking has a write up on glues. They talk about the various heath issues with the various glue. You might want to take a look at it at your favorite news stand. Sorry but they don't talk about how the glues are used in rod building but worth a look at any rate, especially if one has alergy problems to fumes, etc

You may want to get a chainsaw file as a starter file. They come in several sizes and a very fine toothed as they are made to cut metal. Once the hole is enlarged slightly, the rat tail should work fine or a tapered reamer........

IF, you have some of the same wood, you can make your own "putty". Take a piece of the same species and sand it, collecting the sanding dust. Mix the dust with wood glue to make a putty and work it into the crack. allow to dry and sand and finish. You will get a better match than trying most premade putties.

Watch out!!!! Small has a habit of turning into big. You may want a small saw now but I suspect before long you will need to build a new bench or some shelves or........ Get a servicable size saw if you at all have the space. Take a trip to your librabry and look thru the past issues of woodworking magazines. several rate tools from time to time. I seem to recall a pretty good rating on the

I built a sage a couple yrs back. I asked them the warranty question but they did not have the common decency to answer. This question has been posted before. It would be nice to get a final answer.
