Thanks for the clarefication, Jim! I remember that thread, and looked for it but I its long gone since Allcoast changed hands. I seem to remember that Randy Penny, Seeker's design guy, was part of the discussion.
I wonder it a double stripper would help on Acid Roller rod?

Well, I should have said "Butt Guide"! Stripper guide, especially when it comes to the fly rod is confusing.
Thanks guys, that's what I was thinking. Tom, in reference to the fly rods, I remember reading some discussion a while back about having 2 "butt guides", not my area of expertise.
As for the Seekers, they use a Wind ON WO47 stripper guide as the first butt guide and

Is there a theory behind double stripper guides? I know that fly rods have them, now Seeker Rods has double stripper guides on their heavy tuna rods. I have heard that a double stripper adds more load.on the back end of the rod, "backload". for the tuna rod it adds more height above the long fore grip. I just built a tuna rod and was asked to put double strippers a la Seeker, so I

I just got a request for a triangular foregrip and so I went out and found one. I remember triangular fore grips came on production Daiwa rods, once upon a time, but have not seen any in over 10 years.
Now that I have the triangular grip, that is cut off square, I am at a quandry on how to shape it! If I throw it on the lathe, the end result of the taper will be round! Do I trim it down and t

The simple spiral with the bumper guide is the easest and quickest way to do an Acid rod..
I was given a 9' corktaped rod and was asked to re-wrap it into an Acid wrapped rod. All I did was to take off the stripper guide and reposition it to the "bottom" of the rod, flip the rod over and add the bumper guide! Viola! An Acid re-wrap!

I have used the Lakeland ferruled aluminum reelseat with success with heavey tuna blanks. The differance between this and the unibutts is that you use the lower half of the blank for the rest ofthe blank. For lighter rod applications, I have used the Fuji ferruled reelseat with the same out come.

Howzit Hal! Glad to see you took the plunge! I think you will be very please with your rod! Using the bumperguide, simple spiral system is the easiest & quickest way to set up Acid rods! I won't be going back to any other set up!

Here's a successful combination that I have used on an Alaskan Halibut rod! It uses a Seeker CTSF63XXH, an 80#, 6'3" blank, 14" rear handle, an aluminum PackBay Channel Lock seat, 14" forgrip and a set of All American Roller Guides @#$%& Acid Roller Guides with a, LRSG10 bumper guide.
The guy that bought it uses a Shimano TLD30II loaded with 130# spectra.
