Hi, I want to order some reel seats from REC first time. In the past sometimes I had problems that reels do not fit good to some reel seats. I have no experiences with the REC's. Can anybody help me "how good" different reels (especially Loop Tradtional and Orvis CFO) fit to the following reel seats: NBGB NBGS PLRW LCRN LCRNS Unfortunately I have no chance to try them out bef

Hi, I have a question regarding the new Batson fly guides made from SS316 steel. The XSFGP and XSNGP fly guides are made of polished SS316 stainless steel. How do they compare to the usual guides made of stainless steel with chrome plating (HSNGP and HSFGP)? More corrosion resistance? More or less abrasion resistance? Are there any disadvantages? Thanks for your help. Stefan

Daniel, I've just build the FTL905-6 for myself. Fished it a few times I'm more than impressed from this rod. Although it's a 6-piece it is the lightest 5wt I ever hold in my hand, lighter than the 4 piece SIGV and much lighter than the FT905-4. The action of the FTL is more on the medium fast side but pretty fast in recovery. For me it is a perfect overall trout rod with a crisp casting feel,

Hi, I use for most of my fly rods the Forecast TCSNxx or TCSFxx snakes and LTCUDCGxx strippers. Now I read in the new Batson catalog about guide frame platings (pg. 22): "PVD TiCH: … for freshwater use. … Not recommended for saltwater applications." I'm a little bit confused as I thought the PVD TiCH plating gives better corrosion resistence to the guides. Are these guides not

I use Flex Coat high build for more than 10 years now and get very good results with just one coat. Now I tried out FC Lite first time on an old piece of graphite. To me it seems very similar to FC high build except it is slower and so I have a much longer time to work. What are your experiences? Can I get any problems to wait 10 or 15 more minutes to get the same results with one thicker coa

The Loop Green Line and Grey Line blanks comes with two tips. I'm have one of Bob Meiser's Switch Rods with two tips but I'm not sure if he also sells blanks for single handers. ... and I would ask Dan Craft if he can sell a blank with two tips for some extra money. Stefan

Bob, I didn't thin the Flex Coat High Build finish. I definetely can't see any cracks in the finish so if there are cracks they must be very very small and (for my eyes) not really visible. I always prepared and tapered the guide feet very accurate. Maybe except that I've thinned the CP with water (I've done that first time) I have no idea what I've done wrong. I also checked my older rods.

First I want to say thanks for you help and sorry that I can't reply earlier. My first coat was CP thinned with water. I've read (unfortunately I'm not sure where) that with the thinner CP the thread better soaks the CP/water mixture. The second coat was just CP. I definitely filled the tunnels on the guide feet and I also extend the finish a bit past the edges (2mm). And that's why I can't ex

Hi, after a week fishing a new rod in salt water I found some darken areas around most of the guide wraps. It looks like the wraps soaked some water. I’ve used Batsons PVD TiCH plated snake guides and Gudebrods green size A no. 5896 Nylon. After wrapping I’ve made a coat from 50% U-40 Color Lock 2 color preserver thinned with 50% water and another coat of unthinned U-40 Color Lock 2. A day
