Robert, Have you had a chance to fish the IS 703 xray? I am looking at the IS 693 but I haven't seen much on these blanks in my searches. I mainly throw 1/8 oz jig heads with a soft plastic to slot reds on shallow grass/sand flats so no need to really put a lot of pressure on the fish other than to release them before they wear out. I recently built a casting rod with a sj703 x ray blank but I did a simple spiral wrap on it. I also cut 3" off the butt. I fish the south texas coast for redfish and trout and generally throw a 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig head and a 3 to 5" soft plastic. I have only taken it out once and threw a 1/8 oz jig head with a soft plastic, and I really like the way it cast and worked the lure. I onl
