IMO the CB 705 Zentron is too light in power for standard (3/8 and 1/2oz, normal blade size) bladed jigs in most situations (~650g IP). Most people prefer a little more length too, 7'2" or more...Seems trivial, but the action you impart to the bait when popping in out of grass is better handled with a touch more length. I built a CB 706 Zentron for bladed jigs and the length was the only t

David - Some are better than others... I've had a couple that were pretty bad, but then again I've had a couple of their non-hybrid blanks that were just as bad also. I build them on the straightest axis and on all but 1 or 2 you'd be hard pressed to notice anything unless you REALLY examined it closely once the rod is finished. When you're fishing with it, you forget all about it. I really

The Delta CB 705 Zentron is an incredible crankbait blank for bass fishing....Not even considering the price. But when you DO consider the price you can get them for on sale, it makes it that much better. I've built on the Delta Zentron 704, 705, 706, 7115, and 7106 and they are all outstanding, but the 705 is my personal favorite.

Does cutting an NFC void the warranty? I've read posts from Aleks on here that some blanks were designed with ability to trim them in mind - Specifically the MB 765 NEO.

The best rod I've ever used that had a tip to handle light weights but the power for large fish and heavy cover is the 1st generation Megabass XX Perfect Pitch. It's a 7'2" Heavy/XF rod (1050g/80deg). I could effectively pitch a ZCraw Jr with a 3/16oz weight with perfect accuracy and distance yet the rod could handle yanking large fish out of heavy cover. I've yet to find a comparable

The Bushido CB72/12-25 is a great general purpose crankbait rod...DT6/8/10's, Squarebills, etc. It's also a good large topwater rod fo

I can give a real world example. I was looking to build a rod for chatterbaits last year and the Bushido CB72/12-25 came up numerous times as a recommendation. Around here in the shallow, grassy, tidal rivers - chatterbaits are fished over, around, and thru some pretty thick vegetation as a rule and popping it free from the grass is how you trigger many strikes....So you typically want/need a r

I'll go first....The primary reason I got into rod building was my favorite spinnerbait rod was discontinued so I wanted to duplicate the specs myself. Ideal CCS for a spinnerbait rod to me: 750g - 850g IP / 75 degree AA +/- a couple degrees. Length is personal style, I like just under 7' for the way I fish. Preferred blank: Point Blank PB691MHXF, 800g/77deg The original rod I liked t

This might be a random question for anyone familiar with the event and venue....Is there the possibility to park a boat trailer within some sort of reasonable distance from the venue? It's possible I could make a pitstop at the Expo on the way back from a fishing trip, but I'll have my boat with me so that would complicate things.

Length-Only test should be pretty easy to do. Take a 7'6" blank and measure it, either by TNF or NFC's vibration test or both, then chop it to 7' from the butt and do the tests again. Same exact blank means that all other variables would be accounted for. Of course whoever is doing the test would need to have a reason to 'waste' the blank this way, but maybe someone would be planning to c

I put a bunch of hook keepers on a friend's factory rods recently, measured them all to add to my database for comparisons so will share them here too. Length in parenthesis because their model #'s are a little wonky for some. 3 more to add... Rainshadow Immortal IMMC76MH-TC: IP = 1000g, AA = 70deg Rainshadow Immortal IMMC76H-TC: IP = 1150g, AA = 70deg Rainshadow Immortal IMMC76XH-TC: IP = 1200g, AA = 70deg I checked the H and XH several times because of how close they were, they really are that close - only 50g apart in IP. I had 2 XH blanks to measure and both were consistent at 1200g

Hi Joel - I have not measured a Braillist, that is a model I never owned....But I have fished with one. I could make an educated guess on it based on my experience with other MB rods. I'd say it will be very similar to the 1st Gen XX

Does length and/or AA have an effect on the power (or perceived power) of a rod? I ask because if you look at my list of Megabass factory rods, the X4 711 has an IP of 'only' 675 which would be in between a medium and medium heavy in most people's descriptions. But when actually fishing with the rod, it's obviously more powerful most of the rods on my list. I used it it for flipping with

Factory Rods from Megabass measured by me. Note that I round to the nearest 25g when I make measurements to account for inaccuracies in my CCS rig and other differences. Just the way I do it. I am newer to building, but I measured the most of my Megabass rods because I intend to emulate some models with my own builds. Format: BRAND & SERIES | MODEL | IP IN GRAMS | AA IN DEGREES Meg
