This is a double wrapped guide on size A underwrap. Two coats of Flex Coat Lite and one final coat of FC High Build. The underwrap was first coated with FC CP and a coat of FC Lite before the guide was wrapped.

The last time that I did this wrap was over 20 years ago. It took me a while to do this one.

13 years ago I built a rod for a customer and the deal fell through. I had never fished this rod until Wednesday. This a photo of my first catch on this rod.

I didn't want too much bling on this rod. I made a small redfish weave on it and let it go at that.

A lot easier than turning cork. I am getting lazy in my old age.

This a weave that is on my friend's popping rod. I haven't been building much lately. Been tying a lot of flies though.

One of my friends works at NASA so I weaved a space shuttle on his rod. It will be a gift from one of my fishing pardners, his father-in-law. I still have a couple of Allstar IPB842's and used one for this rod.

Here is a pattern that I made using your picture. I could not make a good pattern using 25 threads...not enough definition so I doubled the pattern to 50 threads which would be a nice size on a 1/2" diameter rod using either size A or Madeira thread and size D background thread.

Pattern threads are Madeira, background is Gudebrod regular size D thread, and the trim is Holland size C. Used Flex Coat CP.

I just finished turning this grip on a Batson XP845 blank and it started raining. I know, poor picture. I have not glued the grip yet but I am very excited with this blank that Karry Batson turned me on to and Lance Dupre got for me.

This was a bare bones build except for the weave. Nice light rod to be used with popping cork and bait. Either soft plastic lures or live shrimp is what I use with these rods. This is my second one and I really like them for catching reds.

Since I have not been building rods lately (wife says I have too many) I have been indulging in my other hobby of fly tying. I guess I will have to tie another fly rod to test this pattern. How about a 7 wt. RX7?

I have been field testing a Batson XP845 popping rod that I got from Lance. I like it so much that I ordered another one. This rod is perfect for fishing in the marshes throwing cork and shrimp. I also fished the rod with a Gulp new penny shrimp and caught a couple of keeper trout.
