matrix sp843 blank. I don't normally do to many patterns, but had to wrap this one. Quite difficult on a small blank. Thanks to Billy V and Michael J.

this one was quite fun trying to keep all the threads in place on this ultra light spinning blank (1/4 inch diameter). the colors are lemon yellow, neon green, medium green, dark green, and holographic black.

I had to use 12 guides on a 1263 rainshadow, with a spiral wrap (not including bumper guide), nice fast action blank. I don't want to know how many guides it would take to keep the line above it with a conventional wrap and low frame guides. I totally agree with Bill on the spiral wrap. Casts better IMO, eliminates rod twist.

I use threadmaster, but tried ls supreme and one thing to note about it is - do not use heat on ls supreme as this will create bubbles.

I've only had a need for pg a few times, rod blank refinishing (one blank I painted with color change paint and used pg over it without any problems). anyway another builder I met at the show at Lamiglass's plant last year told me about it and said to store in the freezer to help it last, so that is what I did. just a 1oz. bottle that I've used about six different times and 8 months old is still

I agree with Mike, That is how I learned most of what I know. By purchasing Tom' s and Dale Clemen's books, Putter's videos, Rodmaker magazine, and the wealth of information found here. Most question I have had about rod building has been asked and answered numerous times and can be found by searching this forum. Saves me from posting too many questions and waiting for answers. As for the epoxies

I'm still fairly new at building, a year now and I'm always reading on here about using fly guides in place of spinning guides. Now I completely understand why weight is an issue, so curiosity got the best of me and I decided to weigh them. Now I only have a few extra of same size same brand to compare, here's what I found- Batson BFUG : BVSUG size 10-BFUG .005 oz heavier. size 8- same weight. s

Then there is the problem with the tip-top gauge being off. I have two of them, one from Pac. Bay and the other from Anglers Resource, there is almost 1/2 of a 64'th difference between the two. What are you going to do?

I also use the surgical tubing and had the same problem on light rods near the tip. But since I also bow shoot, I have found that the tubing to hold the peep site in alignment works great for this and is available at most sporting good stores in two sizes, 1/16 in id and 1/8 in id. It usually comes in 3 foot lengths, so one piece will last a very long time.

Andy is right, I live in Olympia Wa. and just finished a butt wrap and fought the same thing for the first time with threadmaster. I didn't change my mixing or application process, still obtained a bubble free finish though. At first I thought it was because I was at the bottom end of the bottles, but I'm sure it is the lower temps combined with the higher humidity due to the rains that just don'
