This is my first shot at a fly rod handle. I realy like the birch bark, and the wood accents are cocobolo, ebony, and aspen. I think I will be using birch bark more often the look and feel are great. I hope the rest of this project go well.

Here is a closer look at the lathe. I'm realy glad I'm hooked on building rods because I made the bench and lathe before I built my first rod.....I just like to build things out of wood.

Heres my design for a rod building bench. I made it out of oak and the extentions can fold down when not in use. I enjoy woodworking so I tried to make it look like a piece of furniture so my wife would let me bring it home. I also made the lathe in the pcture.

I'm on my second rod and did an open diamond wrap on my first rod. I would like to do a chevron on my second and was looking for good instruction on the how to's, is there a good resource out there?
