I have made several cts blanks all in the larger weights. As far as I am concerened they are the finest on th e market. They have an all carbon helex core, no fiberglass. Lighter and stronger thain other blanks the same weight. Will be watching for your posts. Good luck

Thank you for the info, The problem is room for the static distribution test. I live in centrail WA. and we have a lot of snow and cold and I hve to go outside for this test on a 16ft. rod.
thank you. Has anyone built a 16ft spey rod and if so do you remember the spaceing that you used? This will be a starting point for my guides. I am sure that some will have to be moved for this blank.

I am building a switch rod and need some input on the grips. The blank is a 10ft. CTS 8 weight for steelhead and salmon. Can I use a standard reel seat or should I go for the spey style? How long should I make the lower grip and the upper grip? I was thinking the upper should be about 10 to 12 inches but I am in the dark as to the lower. Thank you for your imput. James

I am excited to try this method. Where do you get your Premagloss? I have shown the pic in Rod Maker to some of my friends and they want one as soon as I can get one made.

I had a belt split and took it to the hardware store and they glued it back. They said that is how they make belts in that size. they used superglue and it still works good. Dose any one know where I can get Perma Gloss? Thank you.

Thank you guys. I will try your suggestions. The dry wall tape with the holes sounds good. I have built a lot of one handed fly rods but was a little worried with the larger 2 handed rod. Thank you again. Jim

I am building a CTS 14 ft. rod. Can I use masking tape as a shim on a two handed rod. There is a great deal of strain on the reel seat. Will tape hold up or should I use some cork rings under the reel seat? Thank you Jim

I am looking for reel seats for spey rods. I have compleated one rod made on a cts 12'6" skagit blank. I found that it is a great rod. I also have a fly logic 14' but I feel that the cts is far better thain the fly logic. I am planing on building an Affinty DH spey rod 14' or there about. Any help would be great. Thank you James
