This is the centre section of a handle being turned on the lathe. Contrasting decorative ebony rings can be added to each end to complete the handle. The intention was to create something original and the inlays started out as a variation of my earlier "single helix" design.

Eighteen and twenty piece checkerboards (in the rough) to allow for perspective in a finished handle.
Inlays with any number of segments can be made.
In the background is a block showing a diamond mosaic inlay that I am working on. As can be seen, the mosaic needs considerable improvement!
All inlays were made by hand without any jigs or complicated paraphernalia.
