So I got to thinking about ways to add short sections of color to a blank.
I’ve seen marbling and thread wraps used but I was wondering if anyone has used an appropriately cut sheet of colored vinyl to accent a section of rod with color?
Any other techniques you have seen used?

Are you talking about their 3K sleeves they use for building grips?
If so, I am guessing you just cut your section off of that sleeve and then apply similar to as if you are building a grip?

Hello guys,
Where am I able to find those decorative sections of carbon fiber that you can sometimes find on store bought rods? See the Dobyns Fury series for example.
I am assuming it’s some kind of carbon fiber sleeve or maybe a section of carbon fiber cloth cut and wrapped around the blank?
How are you guys doing it?
Thanks!

Hello all,
This may be common practice for some of you but it has helped me learn crosswraps tremendously since I discovered it myself.
I was reading some instructions on how to do simple crosswraps and I came across the tape method where you buy thin strips of tape of various colors and lay them out in X patterns to simulate threads on a cross wrap.
This got me thinking of an even easie

Hello all!
I am new to weaving and I’m trying to find out the trick to tying off my wraps on the beginning end of the wrap. That’s the end where all of the threads are taped in order.
Is the trick to simply cut as close to the first wrap thread as possible and burnish over the tag ends? How do you avoid nicking your wrap thread?
What’s the trick?
Thanks!

Hello All,
I am new here.
I was wondering if you guys had some tips on keeping an inventory of rod guides and thread colors on hand to increase turn around on repairs and reduce costs of shipping small orders.
I have decided to do some rod repairs in my spare time for extra cash and I have ordered a lot of different sizes/colors of rod guides along with a few basic thread colors.
