Maybe I should rephrase the question: Are all NFC fly rod blanks made with ‘ferrule lite’ joints?

I apologize….I didn’t word this correctly. Yes, these technically are ‘tip over butt’ ferrules. The problem I have with NFC’s ‘Ferrule Lite’ joints is that too much of the male section of the joint sticks out, thus making it aesthetically unpleasing to the eye. It gives the appearance that the male section isn’t pushed in all the way.

Who makes a good 12wt 4-piece blank (preferably graphite)? I’ve got a trip to a Belize scheduled in May, and would like to have a tarpon rod to take with… I have no difficulty finding blanks up to 10/11wt, but 12’s seem to be rather hard to find.

I’m planning on building a few Haldin glass rods… what are the best silk threads for gaining a crystal clear result under epoxy? I’ve noticed that between YLI, Kimono, and Hitena, that these can come in varying sizes (thickness). Should I need to be worried about strength the thinner I go when wrapping guides? These are for a pair of 8-wt. rods.

Mark- you are correct. Carbon fiber handles are black in color….I used the term too loosely. Are there any vendors/ distributors who sell fully complete colored (Kevlar/ fiberglass/ composite) fly rod handles?

Are there any vendors who sell colored carbon fiber handles— other than black?!??? In particular, full wells. I know a few vendors sell them for spin/cast, but nothing in a reverse half or full wells.

Mark, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. I understand the reason why they designed it this way, but it just looks horrible when put together. From an esthetic standpoint, I much rather prefer tip-over-butt ferrules. I was just wondering what I can do to make this a little more pleasing to the eye, yet maintain its structural integrity.

Has anyone used NFC fly rod blanks? I’m building on an LMX FAF 909-4. These blanks come with ‘Ferrule Lite Joints,’ which doesn’t allow the male end of the ferrule to completely insert all the way into the female end. This leaves about 1/2” of exposed ferrule after the rod is assembled. What can I do to alleviate this aesthetic issue? Anyone have any picks of their build using NFC fly rod bl
