I have been using one for a year now. i like the ability to clean them easily and not throw brushes in the trash. They apply and spread finish quite well. Just make sure to clean them prior to use. I actually use a spatula for applying finish to guides and smaller wraps. I use the silicone brush (clay modeling brush) for larger areas and decorative wraps.

Does anyone know of someone that makes decals for vintage rebuilds? I have a customer with a couple Lew's Laser Graphite Speed Sticks LS4-156. The decals have all faded.

Thanks for the info Mark. I understand that the perma gloss requires good ventilation and a respirator also. Not a problem , but something to think about. I am thinking of building a rod the will be displayed and probably never fished. As an heirloom build, I would like to consider the long-term conditions.

Definitely a fan of these blanks too.
As mentioned, lay down a thin layer of epoxy or a base layer of thread( sealed in epoxy) and place the label over that. Burnish the edges with a thread tool or small roller. Start in the middle and work your way out. Let the epoxy sit for 10 minutes before applying, as the chemical reaction causes heat that can lift the edges of your label. Don’t worry abou

What is best for finishing white thread, that will prevent yellowing or discoloring of any kind? I have Flex Coat UV, but not sure how well that will hold up in the long-term.

I am playing around with the idea of making grips from sting ray skins. My plan is to build these on a CFX foam core.
1. Has anyone done this technique of something similar? What was your experience like?
2. Best way to lay the seam? I am thinking of cutting a small channel in the bottom side of the grip, tucking the ends in the channel with adhesive.
3. What adhesive would be the best

Thanks for the responses. I can get the polyester thread in bulk spools for a very good price. There are also a much larger variety of colors. My biggest reservation is the thread fading over time and, as mentioned, the transparency of the lighter colors.

15. Polyester Thread
I have access to polyester thread through my wife's sewing/quilt shop. I have done a few projects with the Glide Polyester thread. It looks great, but the lighter colors tend to have a transparent effect when the finish is applied.
Have any of you had experience with polyester thread?
1. Does it require UV resistant finish or color preserver?
2. Is there a way to prevent the transparen
