Have always applied epoxy directly over acrylic inks without any problems. I usually apply two coats of epoxy to the inscription area, do the lettering, and then one coat of epoxy. It lifts the lettering away from the blank and gives the appearance of being suspended for a unique look.

Have found various brands of acrylic artists ink to work better than anything else, at least for me. A few of them are "FW.", "Permanence", and "Speedball" all found at art supply stores.

Will you be using CP? As mentioned Garnet-Gold orSilver-Blk......Gudebrod Chestnut 5274 matches the blank very closely. Garnet-Tan-black-Silver is classy looking. Would encourage you to do some test wraps with the colors against each other. Its like mixing differnt colors of paint. For example, when garnet is wrapped next to cobalt, the garnet will appear brighter as opposed to garnet next to tan

If you Google " dyi light box" there is ALOT of info and tips. Made one using foam board and use the swing arm lights from the wrapping bench.

Another good point that Billy made in an earlier post is that the darks go really dark when CP is applied. On my sample card i put down a strip of masking tape, covering half of the samples, and applied CP for a side by side comparison.

Bob, I use a size .5 which works well. Found that gold or silver metallic will clog the tip though. Assume the metallic pigment is simply too large to allow an even flow of ink. Have tried several different brands of ink with the same results. Just did a google search for gold ink for use in technical pens...FW Acrylic Artist ink, imitation gold. Have seen the FW brand only in art supply stores.

Steve, I have been a custom golf club maker for years and have done club work for pros on all the tours. Have used the "shafting beads" in certain situations. Shafting beads are the same fine medium used for sandblasting. If you mix too many of the beads with the expoxy, you will not get a good bond. Also the beads will tend to make the connection "squeak" under load. Can't th

Fabrice, Have a look on Mud Hole Tackle (Sponsor on the left) at the top of their home page, you will see a header for Rod Building 101. There is some good information on doing crosswraps. VisualWRAP (also a sponsor) has everything to get you started and beyond.

Am lucky to live in the same area as Andy Dear and have seen some of his test sticks with various epoxys. It's a "no brainer" for me. In fact, placed an order for more ThreadMaster just yesterday. As Doc mentioned, time will tell, as people will be able to see the difference!

Would appreciate your suggestions for moderatly priced PR blanks.....7'6" ... 8-17 range. Rod will have a Calais 200A and be used wade fishing for redfish using 8-10 lb. test throwing 1/8 oz. spoons, soft plastics, and ocassionally top water plugs. Have been using a Loomis PR844 which works just fine but would like a little extra length. Thanks for your input.
