Normally don't talk bad about companies but the crap edge rod's pulled on me made never want to do business with edge/NFC again. I don't care if the blank was rolled on the thigh's of loomis himself.

Fish only move in the direction of their head. They don't swim sideways. if you control where their head is pointing you control the fish. Imagine for a minute you hook a fish right at the boat and she immediately starts running straight out to a log at 12 oclock against 3lb of drag. You move the rod tip to the left which pulls the fish's head to the left. The fish now has 2 choices, spend

I have used the 018 Navy Blue NOCP. It is definitely closer than 009 or 008 but I think 018 probably still a bit too vibrant. It is always hard to judge lighting in photos.

I've used the alps AES14-WTS size 14 on a couple builds and it will fits the 2500 stradic fl and a daiwa fuego 4000 with plenty of room to spare. My guess is that they are very similar so no worries there. With average sized hands and don't find the ergonomics to be any worse than than say a SK2. I've also used the ATEX14 and like the way I can palm my reels and the support the double fi

I'm building a spiral wrapped lamiglas SI1262M float rod and am about to wrap up the final 2 guides. Belly guides are 5's. I have a double foot 6, a double foot 10, and more 5's in stock to work with. I could either: - Use the 6 as a stripper and a 5 as the transition - Use the 10 as a stripper and a 5 as the transition - Use the 10 as a striper and the 6 as the transition I have sp

As far as the reel goes, I believe Vanford is very similar to the stradic fl just uses lighter material. I have an FL and can't recommend it enough for anything around the $200 price point. One of the main "features" shimano added when they released those models was the long stroke spool. Longer spools mean that the line changes direction less frequently and increases casting dis

See: Weibe used to make them for gloomis but now Edge makes them for themselves.

In the words of Gary Loomis... "I don't know where the spine but what I do know is where to put the guides" What I do is find the "spine" using the rotational method. Typically I fine that there are 2 directions the rod gravitates towards. Then I put the blank on the lathe and rotate it until the tip is curving upwards at its highest point for casting or downward at th

Their SI blanks are super sweet. I have a rod built on the SI 108 2M and I swear I can feel individual salmon teeth.

To comment on their popularity, I feel like lamiglas's bread and butter is a relatively narrow salmon/steelhead market in the PNW and some great lake states. There are a few companies out there that have a complete line of finished rods supporting all the modern S/SH techniques. On the low end you have Okuma (No blanks), Berkley (No blanks), Lamiglas (China). In the mid to high end you have Lam

I got 4 blanks from them. 1 Si, 1 Closer, 1 Infinity, and 1 prototype composite blanks. The Closer, SI, and Inf are all almost perfect. The composite blank was a little off in the center where the two composites meet but nothing unbuildable.
