I've built a Phenix M1 inshore series, 711ML and I really like it. I was at a sportsman's expo and told them I wanted something for S-Waver 168 glide baits and that was the blank they recommended.
A 1" butt diameter is hard to believe. The M1 inshore 711ML has a butt diameter around .56" and it has the same line and lure rating as the 8' MH swimbait blank.
I built it with KW10, K

I agree with Harry, the SJ 736 Xray is awesome. I use them for jigs, rat-l-traps, small swimbaits, Texas rigged worms.
The MB 705 is an excellent all around bass blank as well.

I agree with Les.
Rod Dancer Ultimate Gel is really good as well.

I have the SWB 807 IM for glide baits in that range and I really like it. The SWB 806 is rated at 3oz max so it may be too light for the larger baits.
I think the BB 809 would work as well, if you want something with a more parabolic action.

I have a MB705 Delta and I love it. I use it for freshwater stripers, throwing Texas rigged worms.
I also have what was supposed to be a MB795 Delta, but the blank I received was sanded and only 7' 3-1/3". I built it anyway and, again, use it for stripers, drifting live minnows and it's awesome for that.

The only spinning seats that I know of that have the actual blank exposed are split seats like the Fuji SK2, ALPS SRSGS, Pac Bay Minima, etc.
You'll know if an insert is needed if the seat only comes in one size.

You have to use an insert. You glue the insert into the reel seat, then you use arbors to glue it to the blank. The actual blank isn't exposed on those type of reel seats unless the blank diameter where you want the seat just happens to match the inside diameter of the seat.

8. Re: GLUE!!
If you're referring to the glue in the orange bottle, it's Casco Cascol Polyurethane.

I've cut several Fuji and ALPS graphite seats. I use a dremel with a cut-off disk and I tape it to use as a guide. You can clean the cut with sandpaper if necessary. And like Herb said, make sure to leave enough barrel to accommodate the reel foot.

I've been looking for the app on the Google Play Store everyday since the 24th and still nothing... I'm waiting for the reel seats as well. Also waiting for the soft touch sleeves for hidden thread hoods, which were supposed to come out back around summertime.

I use those twist ties that come with the bread storage bags. Works for me.

Matagi makes matte carbon fiber sleeves for the kskss/ash hood that will match the 1K grips. Voodoo Rods sells them along with many other Matagi parts.

I've had great experiences as well. I had a blank broken during shipping and received a new blank three days later! On a couple other orders, I received the wrong color grips and a misprinted label that were replaced right away.

Thanks Roger, I've never used the Aero seat. El said it's a 5" grip so i just assumed that it's a pre made spinning grip and every pre made spinning grip I've seen, including aero grips on AT's website, don't have a tenon on the seat end. I'm aware that there's a tenon for a butt cap.

Spinning grips don't have a reel seat tenon. Sounds like they sold you a casting grip.

According to their catalog, the 890 and 1090 are 4.5 and the 1290 is 5.0

The insert is for looks. If you look at the picture, the insert is that dark woven carbon that you see through the side cut outs. It ends there, it doesn't go the full length of the seat. The seats usually come with the insert pre-glued.

I love fishing for striped bass in the Sacramento and Feather rivers in NorCal. I always have a NFC MB705. I use it any time after sunset and before sunrise to throw Texas rigged worms, black with a white tail. After the sun comes up, i use it to drift live minnows. I always take at least two rods and the second one is usually the SJ736 x-ray because it's so versatile. I use it for small swimbait

ALPS titanium are very nice. I've also used AT Black Ti-Forged, which look similar to Fuji.
I go surf fishing using a factory built Lamiglas rod and I believe they use Seaguide. They're not titanium and they haven't rusted yet.

I've had many brands but now I only wear Oakley. Check out the Prizm Polarized sport series lenses. They have a deep water lens and shallow water lens as well as several others for various activities. Oakley's hold up very well in my experience and you can buy replacement lenses if needed. I have some 15+ year old Flak Jackets that I've been wearing for duck hunting all those years. They've been

American Tackle has some that are similar as well. Three different sizes and four color options.
Rod Builders Warehouse sells SeaGuide products if you go that route. Their link is in the sponsor list.

The Delta blanks are awesome for the money. I might not be of much help since I'm in Northern California and mainly fish the rivers during the spawning run for strpers and king salmon. I have been using the MB705 to throw Texas rigged worms for striped bass for 4 years and it has performed very well. I also have the HS821 that I use to troll spinners for king salmon. Most of my rods are built on

I use NFC regular carbon fiber grips on nearly all of my personal rods (all casting rods) and I use either the American Tackle ECC-22 or the Batson EVABC20 butt caps. The OD matches up perfectly to the OD of the casting grips, I'm not sure for spinning though.

Try contacting C&M Custom Tackle. They are in Southern California near Los Angeles, I think. Their website says that Calstar is running 4 to 6 weeks behind, minimum, so call first.

I love the foam core carbon fiber grips. Super durable, lightweight and look cool. Easy to clean too.
The Winn grips feel really good but I worry about durability. My Winn golf club grips wear out really fast.
All my salmon trolling rods have texalium or carbon fiber tubing, it's easier getting them out of the rod holder.
