Several weeks ago I posted about a situation I had run into where the feet on my new Galvan T-3 fly reel would not fit into the reel seats I purchased prior to the reel. Well, I made a call to Galvan, and apparently others had the same issue and they (Galvan) had just made a run of lower profile feet. This week I received in the mail a new reel foot, some new allen screws and an allen wrench all

The guides you are asking about are BLBLG (Hardloy ring w/black painted frame) and LBSG (SIC ring w/gunsmoke finish frame). They were made in sizes 8, 10, 12 & 16. A size 20 BHNLG or HNSG was used for the butt guide. I have built several rods with them over the last 7 or 8 years and the guides have held up fine to some tough use. Great guides, IMO...I have a couple sets of each ring type

I've contacted Galvan to see if they make a smaller foot and am awaiting a reply. If they do, problem solved... If not, I'll do as many of you suggested and contact some of the board's sponsors in search of a compatible reel seat. Thank you all for your replies. Tom

I recently purchased a Galvan T-3 reel for my next project - a Dan Craft FT863-4. I've been picking up components here and there and have three different reel REC reel seats to choose from unfortunately the feet on the T-3 reel won't fit in any of them. Can anyone recommend a smallish-size reel seat that will fit a small reel with big feet? Thanks, Tom

Stan, Thank you for your reply. The smallest I have worked with is size 6 and they will pass (barely, though) a 7wt with loop, so I'm not surprised a size 5 will pass a 4wt. Tom

Eric / Marty: Thank you for the replies. I agree, Dan is a great guy. The one time we talked last summer, Dan and I had chatted for close to an hour and I don't currently have time to make a call due to my work schedule. I guess my questions should have been, "What is the smallest Fuji Titanium/SIC guide that will pass a WF4 line with a loop to loop leader and what is the equivalent si

I build mostly casting rods for saltwater, so I need some help with my next build. I'm building a fly rod for my Dad. I have a Dan Craft Sig V 9' 4wt / 4pc blank but don't have a real clue as to the guide sizes needed. Dad fishes with loop to loop connectors for fly line to leader, so the guides would have to allow that to pass. I don't want to ask him many questions or look at his current ge

Anson, You can also glue some light foam arbors to the blank where the rear handle goes, then turn down the OD until the cork handle fits nicely. It is lighter in weight than epoxy soaked thread or drywall tape. Tom
