Great thanks Roger, I’ve done to both ways and haven’t seen any difference, just making sure I wasn’t missing something, thanks again.

Do the transition guides the 60 and 120 on a spiral wrap need to be the same ring size or can they be different? I’ve done a static load test with guides the same and different and don’t see any difference, just wondering if I’m missing something or just over thinking, thanks.

Thanks Kevin, have you built any rods on using this blank, If so what were/are your thoughts, specifically flex. I built a rod on a different mod-fast, med-hvy blank and don’t like the flex in

Has anyone built a rod using either of these blanks for catfish. Need to build several, main use will be open lake, casting 2 to 3 ounce sinkers plus bait, 20lb,or 25lb mono. Fish average 7lb to 15lb, with the occasional 15 plus.

Thanks everyone for all the great info, the marking pencil has been retired. Have a sharpie and tape ready to go for the next build. Had some citrus cleaner for the boat that seemed to do the trick on getting rid of the residual. Butch

John, I’m using a white marking pencil. The alcohol does seem to clean it, at least from what I can see. I’ve gone back and cleaned everything again and it almost looks like a stain in the rod finish. Never had this happen before. Will look at using something else for future builds. Thanks for the reply. Thanks Butch Cross

Started to apply epoxy on thread last night and noticed where I marked the spine the residual from the mark is bleeding thru or showing. I cleaned all my marks rubbing thread across them first and then wiping with alcohol. I don’t see anything where I marked guide placement but now concerned that there’s still some residual left on the blank. This is the first matte blank that I’ve used is there
