The reel seat I am going to use for my current build fits snugly on the blank without the use of arbors. Is this a problem? I am asking because in past builds I have built arbors out of fiberglass dry wall tape when installing the reel seat. Will the elimination of arbors in this build cause problems or weakness in the gluing process when installing the reel seat? Thanks. Iwan.

I have a problem with the Pac Bay A8 reel seat that I have installed on my current build. All the fly reels that I try on this seat have a very small but noticable side to side movement. On closer inspection I can see that the hood slot that accepts the reel foot is slightly too large for all my reels and this is what is procuding the slight wobble I can detect. I want to use single foot snake guides on a rod I am currently building to keep the weight down. But I am slightly cautious about commiting to this route as I have heard that single foots come loose over time and are prone to ripping out of the wrap if they are caught in brushes/trees etc while walking the river bank. Is there any truth to this? For the record I have used Forhan locking

I am a new rod builder and I have a simple question for all you guys out there ! Are reel seats made by different manufacturers but having the same code (A5, U3 etc) the same dimensions. Are reel seat designations an industry standard ? So If I buy an inletted cork grip that fits a Pac Bay A5 seat, would an A5 seat from a different manufacturer still fit the grip. Thanks !

Anyone have some guide spacing measurements for this blank ? It is an IM6 kit rod bought from Hook & Hackle. First guide I placed 4" behind the tip top. Stripping guide I placed 2 inch above arms reach according to Tom's book. I did a static deflection test with the other guides but since this is my first rod I would like so comparison measurements from other builders to see

I am going to start building my second rod this Winter. I want to build a 10-ft 7-wt rod for steelhead. I would like this blank to be either a 3 or 4-piece with a medium-fast action. All I can find on the internet is the Dan Craft Signature V blank that meets my criteria. Any other suggestions ? Thanks.
