I actually have a rod made on an xray ds721. Also one on a delta ds6107-1. Like both rods, but im looking for something a little more powerful than the 721. If I could find a high end blank comparable to the 6107-1 I'd be happy

anyone built anything on this blank? Is the power really as high as the lure weight advertised? Id like to build it for ned rigs, tubes, micro jigs set up as spinning rod. Primarily throwing 3/16 and 1/4 oz max

Built both rods and I prefer the medium cut down to 6ft4.. At full length, I think the ml would have been better. Now I'm confident in tossing a hair jig in a shoreline eddy under trees and getting a bass out of it quickly. Thanks guys!

I ordered one each of the ml and medium. Naturally the next day nfc x Ray's go on sale for 135 shipped. Are the point blanks in the same class as the x ray, or should I cancel the pb order?

How is the hook setting power on the ml? I like the tip of my NFC mb663, but I just feel totally undergunned setting the hook into a 20" coldwater smallmouth

How does the 69mxf compare? A 5/16 head, hair, and a pork trailer may be a little over 1/2 oz. I also like having power to muscle a thick hair jig through wind and under trees (hence the shorter length)

I should add that my current rod is built on a nfc hm663 and I feel like it doesnt have enough umph on a hard hook set.

6-6ish. Extra fast. For hair jigs. 3/16 lightest, 5/16 heaviest baits are what I use. I want sensitive. Max of 6'9 finished rod. I have the equipment to cut down a blank if I need. I'd like to keep it around $150-175 max

i have both rods - for the lighter jigs, i much prefer the x ray DS 721 blank and use it extensively for small jigs up to 3/16 oz. i use my sj702 for 1/4 oz jigs, and the x ray mb733 for everything else up to 3/8 oz. The 733 casts 1/4 oz jigs just fine, but ive found the sj702 casts a bit better with wind resistant baits due to it flexing a tiny bit more.

hey guys, looking to build a rod for 1/4 oz crankbaits, 1/4 and 3/8 oz spinnerbaits. prefer to use only north fork composites blanks. I really only fish for river smallmouths, however they are pretty large and aggressive so some power will be needed. anyone have any suggestions? debating on going with the delta lmx CB701-1, as its a moderate action. my only concern is its rated down to 1/16 oz,

This is an old school pac bay rain forest sj722 blank I picked up stupidly cheap. Built an experiment rod on it and absolutely loved the length and power for close quarters fishing, so I decided to commit fully to adding a premium version rod to my arsenal. I'll likely cut down the MBHM 663 blank down to 6-3 or so. David Baylor Wrote: -------------------------------------------------------

any idea on the numbers on a MB 733 x ray? Norman Miller Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > David stated above that the X-ray SJ732 has an IP > of 460g and an AA of 72. i actually did this a bit with a few rods I had already made up, and the 733 is closer to the action of the rod im looking for than the 732 just by holding the rod at the 62" mark and using the line to flex it. (same as the rod im trying to duplicate which is a 72" pac bay spin jig 722 blank rated for 1/8 - 3/8 oz lures) i am kind of intrigued by the MBHM 663 - the hm blank i have now

Would much rather have an x ray. I have Rods built on a MB HM and an x ray and theres a noticeable difference.

Can I do this with a 732 blank I've already built. Or does it need to be bare? I dont want to order a blank and it "may" be what I want or it may not.

I love the action on the sj732, I'm just worried if I cut 10" off itll become too soft. Would I be better off perhaps getting a 733 and cutting? In full length, the sj732 is perfect for what I'm trying to build, action wise.

Hey guys, I'm looking to build a hair jig rod on a NFC x ray blank, but I'd like to cut it down to approx 6-6". I love the way the sj732 casts, but my question would be cutting 8-10" off effect the action. In order to get the full length feel, should I step up a power, down a power? Is it likely not too change much?

great advice guys, thanks. the blank and components have been ordered. I decided to go with single foot guides, simple to reduce my wraps in half. this rod is going to live in a cabin three hours away 362 days a year anyways.

I like the looks of that batson glass blank - that's exactly what I'm looking for. Is there a general snake guide size and amount I should use for this project?

I've actually thought of going to a plumbing supply and getting o rings to fill the gap between the seat and blank then doing an epoxy ramp. I just personally hate foregrips, and want my hand directly on the blank.

This really makes me wish I'd have bought blanks from someone who responds to emails much better than NFC.

looking to build a few high end spinning rods (x ray blanks), and have settled on the aero comfort seats. Id like to use split grips and prefer the winn since i fish a lot of cold winter weather. Is there any of the winn grips that match up nicely to these seats? I have large hands, so i think id prefer the 17mm, but will use the 16mm if they fit better. looks like these will line up pretty w

hey guys, i have a private section of native brook trout river on my hunting property, and want to build a cheap rod to leave in the cabin for the few times a year i fish it. The stream is extremely thick, 10 ft wide mostly, and loaded with native brookies that are 4 - 12 inches long. I currently have a 7-6 4 weight, and its a bit to much in most places. Can I get a 7 ft 2 weight blank, and cut
