I built a 7 wt from a Cabela's SLI, 9 ft. It is a moderate-fast. It casts some pretty good sized flies with ease. If you have a Cabelas near, you could look at a six or eight wt. I don't think they have a premade 7 wt.

A butt wrap I still had taped to the blank had some Sulky Holoshimmer and Guderod HT Metallic gold in it. I did the tie down wrap with Ht Metallic gold. While removing the tape, the Holoshimmer started getting loose, them the Metallic gold started coming loose. After trying to salvage it for about 20 minutes, I finally ripped the whole wrap off. On the next attempt, should I? 1, tie down wit

Finally,I used just a little penetrating spray called

What do you think about using nylon mono as a ferrule wrap? The nylon mono is sewing thread, .005 dia. grayish in color. Would make two wraps. It will be vertually invisible on a black blank.

11. Gel pen
I'm new to rod building so I was practicing inlays, wraps,& applying flex coat.
